Skinfood Pineapple Peeling Gel

If there is one KB product that everyone should try, it is a peeling gel!

Skin Food's Pineapple Peeling Gel is inexpensive, easy to grab from Ulta, and is super effective!

So, we all already know to throw out that old school St. Ive's Apricot Scrub crap, right!? Exfoliators with plastic anythings are a NO as well - they pollute the environment and end up in our oceans. Many exfoliators are also too rough for the skin.

A peeling GEL, on the other hand, has nothing too abrasive and doesn't rub anything against or into your skin. Instead, like the directions say, you take a tiny bit - similar to the amount on my hand, here, and rub circular motions on clean, DRY skin. Avoid the eye area, of course.

As you rub, the gel peels up dead skin and just sort of (kinda grossly) rolls it into little balls on your face. My hands aren't super dry, but you can see the effect on my hand, below, well enough to get the point.

You rinse to reveal the softest skin ever!! My skin is fairly sensitive, so I only use this once a week. The under $15 bottle will last me a long time!

It does smell slightly of acid or citrus, definitely a pineapple/tart scent. It also is fairly stingy, again, thanks to the citrus included. I would take the time to do a spot test before trying this if you tend to be sensitive to ingredients.

In sum, I am a huge fan of this and it has replaced all of my physical exfoliators. Give it a go and tell me what you think!

Mani Round Up: August 28, 2018

It was a busy week so while I didn't get to do my nails too many times, I made sure to do some stellar eye candy for you anyway. Check it out:

Zoya Payton: Loove this one! I was watching a show where the character had black nails and they looked super chic! I can't deal with black black nails, so I went with dark and sparkly. Payton is perfect in two coats, but hard to photograph!

Ludurana Aurora Boreal: How pretty is this!? I doubt it is a cosmetic grade pigment, LOL. This is, I promise, all the same polish! I did a black basecoat (partially for the look and partially for the protection against this probably car-safe only pigment, LOL) and two coats of AB. This is beyond stunning!

Essie Using My Maiden Name: I love this polish! I was looking for something pastel but special, and this popped into my radar. This is a gorgeous creme formula with a pink shimmer to it - just lovely, opaque in two perfect coats and extra glossy when topped with my trusty Glisten & Glow topcoat.

China Glaze Ahoy over Zoya Nana: Little did I know I had the most amazing hot pink with gold micro glitter sitting in my melmer. Ahoy is amazing! I did one thick coat of Nana for the base because I didn't know how opaque Ahoy was, but next time will suffice with just two, or three, coats of Ahoy.

Mask(s) of the Week: Shea Moisture Instant Rebound & Scinic Hyaluronic Acid Essence Sheet Mask

After a couple days in the sun, my skin was in serious need of a hydration focused double mask sesh!

I have mentioned Shea Moisture Instant Rebound Dragon's Blood & Coffee Cherry Mask before. It is a thick lotion consistency that just lets the moisture SINK IN your skin. Feels so nice, doesn't dry down, and rinses clean.*

*Except in your eyes. Even the tiniest drop will make your eyes feel as if they have been bitten up by a hoard of angry wasps.

I followed this up with my Wonder Pore, toner, vitamin C (from Purito, it's awesome), essence and serum, and then applied this mask. I decided to try Scinic sheet masks because the Scinic Honey All In One Ampoule is the bee's knees.

Great mask! Nice fit, the perfect amount of essence, and no dry down.

Here is everything I used on my skin, minus the two cleansers.  So, yes, 14 items total. MY SKIN LOOKS AMAZING, DON'T JUDGE ME!

Ulta Beauty Mask Removing Cloths Review

On a total whim, I bought the Ulta Beauty Mask Removing Cloths. They are a total gimmick, I know, but I do make a mess removing masks sometimes, so I figured, why not? They were $3.99, I believe, and came with 10 cloths.

You simply remove a tablet, run it under warm water, and watch it expand.

It expands to about the size of a paper towel.

You know what? I like it!

The texture is a mix between a wash cloth and a paper towel. It is soft, but sturdy. You simply wipe the mask off your face and then rinse and reuse the cloth. It worked to remove the entire mask, much neater, than ever! I usually have water and mask residue on the counter top, but with this, I did not make a mess, LOL.

Are these necessary? Nope. Do I like them!? Yes. Will I repurchase these? Uuuhhhh...I'd like to say no, but if there is a sale, I have a feeling they may fall in my cart again.

Have you tried them? Would you try them? Could you, would you, in a box? Would you, could you, wearing socks?

Mani Round Up: August 21, 2018

How is it August 21st already?! Wasn't it JUST my birthday!?

Zoya Bela: I love this polish! I needed something demure for work after a week's vacation, so I did a coat of Zoya Snow White and added two coats of Bela. It's too sheer on it's own for me, but with white undies, it is Royal ready!

SuperChic Lacquer Fuchsure Drive Me Insane: Love this polish! You have def seen this before. Two perfect coats and topcoat is all you need. This is a great purple shade, but what makes this polish extra special is the gorgeous blue shimmer underneath.

Zoya Kelsey: To be honest, I've been painting my nails less. I am in a wonderful (healthy) relationship and I really enjoy being out with my honey. I've only been doing my nails a few times a week - and wanting to do them even less. We will see how things continue with the Mani Round Up. Anyway, this is Zoya Kelsey, 90% opaque in one coat but deep and glowy with two. I added Glisten & Glow topcoat and that's all she wrote.

(Literally. See what I did there?) Ha!

Mask of the Week: nugg Deep Hydration Moisture Boost

Did the nugg company shut down? Everything I see from them is on clearance - which is actually why I grabbed the Deep Hydration Moisture Boost wash off face mask.

After trying this mask, I hope they stay afloat - this was really nice!

Is it just me or is this a lot of wasted packaging? The little tubs alone are adequate without the paper backing.

See how cute!? Also, I did use this after the 4th of July - per my nails.

Hydrating was correct! This was barely more than a super heavy lotion. I did my double cleanse and followed with this on my skin. I left it on for 15 minutes and it experienced zero dry down. I think the single-use pod is not correct either - I could've gotten two uses if I didn't slather it on.  By the time I realized that I could've used it twice, I had like 75% of it already on my skin. Ah well.

Once I rinsed, my skin was glowing and bouncy!

Do you know what is happening with this company?

July 2018: Empties & Tossed Report

Time for the Empties & Tossed Report!

I am finishing up some full bottles of skin care products and finally repurchasing some favorite items. I feel like I am closer to getting a full routine down that makes my skin just glow! This month I had 18 full sized empties and quite a few are re-purchases.

Some of the standout items here include:

My face wipes of choice, above and beyond, are Formula 10.0.6 Wipe Your Face Off. You see them every month. Don't let the grapefruit fool you, they are beyond gentle and entirely effective. This brand is often Buy 1, Get 1 40% off at Ulta and I totally recommend them!

I received this Shiseido Essential Energy Moisturizing Cream as a sample. It is THICK and just saturates the skin. This is not for those who like a lightweight moisturizer. Love how it penetrates my dry skin! I don't need to repurchase another for a while, but this is totally in the running in the future.

Hempz Goji Orange Lemonade Body Spray is fantastic! Smells like a bright summer morning. Alcohol isn't the fist ingredient, so I spray it in my hair. Like my moisturizers, I don't need a body spray for a long time, but when I do, it will be this one.

Vichy LiftActiv Supreme is another heavy weight moisturizer that seeps into my skin. You can feel the hydration! Again, no need for me to shop for another for quite some time, but this is going on the repurchase list.

I won't repurchase Mario Bedescu Vitamin A D E Neck Cream because I feel like it's an extra step (because another, among the 14 I do, is really making or breaking my time...) but I just use my regular products on my neck now. If you need some high end but not super expensive skin care products, MB is an awesome brand.

Japanese Cotton Lobo Organic Puffs can be found on Amazon. The cotton used here is organic and unbleached. I do plan to repurchase these!

Of the 8 samples that I used, you have already heard me rave about the Sulwhasoo Radiance Energy Mask and Purito Pure Vitamin C Serum. I am also enjoying the Purito Galacto Niacin 97 Power Essence but need to try it more. Tony Moly Banana Hand Milk is a delightfully thick formula but the banana scent is not my jam.

I recently got a little tanner and needed to dig through my stash for darker foundations. On the way in, I decided to pull out at least 5 items to toss. Instead, I came up with 7 and also decided to just toss the Hard Candy Turn Me Matte drops, too.

Time for the totals!

Month of July:

Totals: 18 items, full or deluxe sized / 8 packets or samples / 8 items thrown out

Empties Report Year to Date: 131 items / 77 packets
Thrown out Year to Date: 99 items

Mani Round Up: August 14, 2018

Let me show you what I put on my nails last week.

Warning - it was a vacation (from both jobs) week!

Zoya Haruko & Kawaii Nail Lacquers Shine On Holo Topcoat: I was on vacation last week and let me tell you, my nails were NOT on fleek over my stay-cay. I needed to do them to hang out with my boyfriend's friends tho (first impressions totally matter!) so I did two coats of Zoya Haruko, a gorgeous glowy orchid color, and a coat of Shine On by Kawaii Nail Lacquers, which is currently out of biz (miss your stuff, Jamie!).

Wellllll....someone's brain went on vaca mode and forgot to take pics of my other manis!! Figures! Good thing my one and only was a good one!

Mask of the Week: Frudia Blueberry Hydrating Mask

I am a legit sucker for cute packaging and convenience, so I jumped to try this adorable Frudia mask at CVS the last time that I had a coupon.

The back has routine instructions, but I do appreciate the nod to toner!

I forgot to take a face picture. It fit like a traditional mask, nice feel to the cloth and a decent amount - perhaps a smidge too much - of essence. The color, however, looked legit dirty. Perhaps that is the natural fruit essence that the mask boasts - blueberry, in case the packaging didn't jump at you - and it smells fine, but the color is plain ugly. Whatever - I persevered and put it on my face.

It doesn't dry down at all, so you feel the moisture throughout the wear time.  It sits heavily on the skin. After removing the sheet, I used it on my arms and legs - it was still that wet. The essence takes a while to sink into the skin, too.

Nothing to write home about here! I liked it but wouldn't go out of the way to repurchase. Have you tried this brand? Thoughts?

July 2018: Favorites & Flops

It's that time again for Favorites & Flops. Let me show you what I loved and hated in July.

First up, Favorites:

Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade in Soft Brown & Medium Brown: This is a cult favorite for a reason! I dyed my hair darker recently so I moved from Soft to Medium's taking me some time to get used to the darker color, but I like it. I apply it with an angled brush and set it with my setting powder. It lasts through my bangs, humidity, and sweat here in the Connecticut summer.

Becca Hydra Mist Setting Powder: Speaking of setting powder, I am obsesssed with this! I read about this from Musings of a Muse. This powder is half water. You use a regular powder brush, apply it as normal, but it has the most amazing, cooling, water like sensation. It's SO good, my Mom tried it and wanted her own!

Touch in Sol No PoreBlem: I read about this primer in my Korean Skin Care group on Facebook. It's everything you like about Benefit PoreFessional, but not nearly as thick and gluey. It makes my makeup last and last. I highly recommend this - in fact, I recommend all three!

Above, here is Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade in Medium Brown, left, and Soft Brown, right.

Time for the Flops:

Hard Candy Turn Me Matte Glamoflague Mix In Drops: I believe this was first listed as a Favorite of the Month here, but I totally rescind that accreditation. This has turned into a gluey mess that peels up the foundation around it. Buh bye.

Benefit Hello Happy Soft Blur Foundation: So, let me say that I LOVE the foundation itself. However, the packaging on the mini bottle (awesome at $10) is awful! I used it ONCE and I couldn't get any more out. I was warned it would maybe have 2-3 uses, especially if I was trying to get it more full coverage, but not ONE.single.use.  Anyway, I was convinced there was more in the bottle, so I did this:

I took scissors and jammed it right in there. Guess what? There is a ton of product in that bottle! I've used it maybe 6 times or more by now. The foundation itself is lovely, though, so I just recommend you go ahead and get a big bottle - trust me, the product is worth it.

What do you think? Have you tried any of these?

Mani Round Up: August 7, 2018

Good morning!

Let me show you what I wore on my nails last week:

Zoya Ruthie (pinky) and Zoya Maeve: The Zoya Elements collection is back in play! Ruthie is a lovely vintage rose shade and Maeve is a surprisingly awesome eggplanty color. Single coaters for both! FWIW, I am so not feeling the accent nail look anymore.

Fresh Paint Guava: Wow, this is super hard to photograph. I took my evening post-mani pics (left) and in the morning, when I went to update this post, I realized how off the color was from the true color...hence, the no-flash, day time, at my desk at work shot (right). Neither pic is great, to be honest! This is a NEON PEACH. Neon, in your face, awesomeness. It is opaque in two creamy coats but dries fairly slowly, to be honest.

Alessandra Peppermint Patty: I picked this polish up years ago at a nail tech convention in Long Island, NY. It still works perfectly, opaque in three thin coats. It is a perfect Tiffany blue!

Zoya Ana: I used this Zoya Satin, with topcoat, to celebrate my birthday this past weekend! This formula is meant to be used sans topcoat to show the satin effect - somewhere between matte and glossy. I added G&G topcoat because I'd chip it within minutes without my trusty G&G, and I think the satin plus gloss created a really plush looking mani!

Mask(s) of the Week: The Body Shop Chinese Ginseng & Rice and ElishaCoy Revitalizing Ampoule Solution Mask

Today I am featuring another one-two-punch in the masking department. I wanted to exfoliate, so I paired The Body Shop Chinese Ginseng & Rice wash-off mask with an ElishaCoy Revitalizing Ampoule Solution Mask to follow.

BTDubs, ElishaCoy is available at CVS, so if any of my US friends want to dabble in quality KB sheet masks, get thee to CVS. While you're there, get the Manefit Honey mask, too.

So, as usual, I began with the oil cleanse and cream cleanse before I applied The Body Shop Chinese Ginseng mask. I got this packet, and 6 others, in a holiday package from Ulta, which was $15 for 6 packets. This is a good deal and awesome way to all the varieties, especially when a single packet is $3 normally - or $18 plus tax if you were to buy all 6. With the holiday package, you basically get one free.

The Body Shop Chinese Ginseng mask is white and gritty! It felt cooling the entire time it was on, which was about 10 mins. It doesn't dry down fully in that time. The instructions says to rinse in a circular motion, which I did, to reveal brighter, clean, cool skin. I am a fan but wouldn't purchase a full size of this.

I followed The Body Shop Chinese Ginseng mask with toner, essence, serum, and then applied the ElishaCoy Revitalizing Ampoule Solution Mask. I forgot to take a pic, but it is your typical sheet-mask face. It covered well and the fabric was slightly heavier, which helps it to stay in place. There was enough essence to cover my face, arms, shoulders, and feet! It was fairly drippy, to be honest, but I always make use of excess.

After I removed this, about 10 mins, my skin felt slightly tacky, but that was fixed with eye cream, moisturizer, and a lip mask.

I honestly didn't think it was great, but I woke up the next morning to super clear, bright, soft skin and noticeably less bags under my eyes. I didn't sleep better or worse than usual, so I am going to credit my masking sesh for that one. Score!

Have you tried either of these? Thoughts?

March 2019: Empties & Tossed Report

I am continuing to try to use up products that have been laying around, including perfumes. So far, so good. Let me show you what I used in ...
