e.l.f. Tinted Lip Oil Review

I want to start doing more stand alone reviews of makeup products. I am trying to cut my consumption down by a lot, but once in a while, the old #treatyoself mentality jumps in and I make a purchase.

Today I am going to review the e.l.f. Tinted Lip Oil in Pink Kiss.

Spoiler: I love it!

I had $3 in Extra Bucks at CVS, so what better to splurge on than makeup, amirite?! There are 4 shades of oil at my CVS, each retailed at $8. Not cheap for e.l.f., but certainly cheaper than Clarins or many of the higher end lip oils now available.

I immediately loved the applicator! It is a doe-foot with a dip to curve over the lip lines.

And I love the color and formula! The color is the most perfect my lips but better color. The oil is slippery but not messy OR sticky. My lips feel instantly nourished and even after the oil settles, I am left with a pretty stain to my lips.

The cons are that it is not long lasting and transfers - hello, it is an oil!

If you're a fan of Clarins Lip Oils but not a fan of the price, you must check this dupe out!

Mani Round Up: May 29, 2018

Theme week! Literary Lacquers is my favorite indie of all times. I wanted to do a non-Zoya week since I always reach for those, so I went digging around in the melmer to see what I could see!

Literary Lacquers Be What You Would Seem to Be over Zoya Perrie: It all started when I wanted to do my nails without doing them (ie: my life) so I added BWYWStB over Perrie. BWYWStB doesn't need undies by any means though, so I will def use it again without.

Literary Lacquers Je Reviens: If I had to pick one favorite LL, above and beyond, it is this one! I LOVE this color!! I did two and a half coats, LOL. The first one was surprisingly patchy, so I went and sort of dabbed in a half coat. I followed it up with a full second coat to reveal the depth of this gorgeous polish.

Literary Lacquers Vurt-U-Want: Love this polish SO much! The top pic is just glossy clear coated and the bottom pic has a matte topcoat, which gives this super sparkly polish a satin-like finish. I did just two coats of Vurt before the topcoat. I am legit enamored with this polish!

Mask of the Week: Naisture White Rose

I will have a post for you soon about some real life meets accidental KB shopping I did recently. One of my picks was this mask, a White Rose sheet mask by Naisture.

I bought this from an Asian grocery store, so there weren't many mask options, but I did try a few by this brand.

I am glad I only bought a couple. The fit on this mask is awful! The sheet itself is that super thick, feels like a weird towel consistency. If you mask often, you've experienced this type of sheet for sure. There was also SO much essence that the pouch knocked itself over and spilled all over - yes, there was enough for a legit spill! My skin felt fine after removal - nothing to write home (or blog) about, really. Not bad, not great. Meh!

K-Beauty Shopping IRL!

I am so excited about this post!

I am dating a new (wonderful, amazing, handsome, brilliant, etc) guy who lives in a city much more diverse than my hometown. In addition to lots of new restaurant options, there are also small grocery and ethnic stores to cater to the different populations in town. I saw an Asian grocery store and was desperate to go in to see if there were any beauty offerings.

Low and behold - my first IN PERSON K-B experience!

Let me just sit down for a sec. This place had sheet masks in two spots and a variety of soaps - like, for the body, in a third section. I purchased 4 sheet masks, all for $2 or under each, from Naisture and It's Skin, 1 rose oil soap that smells just divine for $2, and a toner like product for $6. My total purchase (with candy added!) was under $30, so I was psyched!

Unfortunately, I didn't look at the Eskinol ingredients and it is basically a Clinique toner in a Korean made bottle.  I did try it and the alcohol denat was just extremely overbearing. I may try that again in the summer when my skin needs a little oil control.

If you live in CT and know where else I should go for KB, please LMK in the comments!

Mani Round Up: May 22, 2018

Get ready for my lamest Mani Round Up to date! Apparently it was a busy week, LOL, and I only did my nails TWICE. With two Zoya colors.  Let's take a quick look anyway, shall we?

Zoya Aurora: My nail friend Sam recently posted a mani using Aurora and I had been meaning to use it ever since! I did three coats, and I was surprised by how streaky the first coat was, to be honest. My bottle is a few years old now, so maybe that has something to do with it? Regardless, it is gorgeous!

Zoya Perrie: I actually had to force myself to take Aurora off and put on Perrie in two perfect coats. Thanks to OPI Nail Envy base and Glisten & Glow topcoat as the topper, manis last forever with such minimal tip wear. I did two coats of Perrie here - this is a BEFORE WORK mani, but thanks to Jill's miracle topcoat, I was out the door in ten mins, smudge free.

So, that's literally it...

Mask(s) of the Week: Boscia Charcoal Pore Pudding Intensive Wash-Off Treatment & Manefit Honey Nutrition & Vitalizing Sheet Mask

Wowza at the title of this post! LOL.

I recently learned in my KB Facebook group that charcoal products help pores to look smaller, so I did a double mask using my Boscia Charcoal Pore Pudding Intensive Wash-Off Treatment first and then followed up with a dose of honey hydration.

I couldn't help but make a silly face with grey charcoal all over my face! This product is just lovely - it is the standard charcoal but it isnt drying at all. It is a white and black swirl that combines to a gray. It does dry, but not tightly on the face, and then you wash it off after 20 mins to reveal glowing skin!

I finished with the wash-off mask and then did my toner, essence, serum, and emulsion before applying a sheet mask. The Manefit Honey Nutrition & Vitalizing Sheet Mask is one of my favorites, you've seen it before.

What an excellent combo! I would use these two again. My pores looks definitively smaller!

American Made Creations: Cuticle Souffle, Scented Sachets, and Nail Decals!

Soo excited to share!

I have shared American Made Creations nail decals on this blog a million times over - including HERE and HERE, but I have some serious news!

American Made Creations has a new sub-biz called American Made Wax Co.!! Shanel and Scott will be creating cuticle products, including this amazing Cuticle Souffle that I got to sample, scent sachets that I purchased one of and LOVE, wax tarts, and more!

I was sent two Cuticle Souffle samples in the scents Tropical Spring and Sea Salt & Yuzu.

This is SO creamy! It is lightweight and absorbs so very well. The scent is powerful but not overwhelming at all.

It is NOT an oil, thankfully, as oils get messy and everywhere, and many take forever to absorb. This is more of a lightweight hand lotion. I actually used it on my hands and feet and toes, too.

I initially made a purchase of the scent sachet. SMELL O VISION neeeeeded!!!!!!!!!!! The Wild Taffy Crush is like a starburst, mixed with lemon, mixed with sweetness. If it had a color it would be pink.

Don't forget, my original love for American Made Creations started with nail decals!! Shanel will make you CUSTOM decals to your shape and color specifications, she is awesome and helpful.

She also threw in the cutest little buttons! :)

All of nail gals need serious cuticle help. There is nothing grosser than a nail blogger - or anyone, really - with gnarly hands. The Cuticle Souffle is ideal for summer - lightweight, great scent, and super moisturizing!

Shanel and Scott will be releasing their summer products soon, with Harry Potter as a theme!

Mani Round Up: May 15, 2018

Mid-May!! Can you believe it? It's still freezing in CT, so there's that.

Zoya Abby: Gorgeous and perfectly opaque in two coats, I am bringing spring to my nails even if Mother Nature isn't bringing Spring to CT.

Zoya Brighton: This was the only new shade in the otherwise re-released Bridal Collection. This is three thin coats, no undies needed, and SO sparkly!

Zoya Bela over Zoya Snow White: Bela is SHEEEEEEEEER so it does need undies (or not, if you don't have perma-stained nails like me), so I did two coats over Snow White. Nice!

Fresh Paint Passion Fruit: This brand comes from 5Below and it is awesomesauce! Seriously! It is like 3/$5, but don't let that fool you. This is creamy and perfect in two coats.

Mask of the Week: ElishaCoy Brightening Ampoule Solution Mask

I am in looove with this mask!

If you want a product with instant looking results, this is it!

Did you get the sense that I loved this!?  I picked this up at CVS for like $3, more than I usually spend on a sheet mask but sometimes I get caught up in the KBeauty at the Drugstore excitement!

The mask smells like a very light floral, just clean, nothing strong at all. It fits like a glove. There was enough essence to rub on my arms and legs. It didn't dry out at all.

Thirty mins later, I removed it to reveal the most even toned, bright, zero redness, plump, firm, soft skin EVER! I need to buy this in bulk ten times over!

April 2018: Empties & Tossed Report

It was a slow month for me! I had no Flops and only a few empties to report about, too.

This month I finished 9 full sized items:

My favorite item from the Empties are my Holy Grail Formula 10.0.6 Wipe Your Face Off Wipes, which I always have on hand. The Bath & Body Works Sparkling Limoncello Nourishing Hand Cream smells SO good! It saturates the skin with the finest scent! The other item, that tiny little bottle of Murad Multi-Vitamin Infusion Oil, is amazing, but I can't afford the full-size at $72! This little sample went on my arms and smoothed my skin in the best way.

My three packets are so lame, haha. You already know I am obsessed with the super pricey Sulwhasoo Radiance Energy Mask and the other item, the Moistfull Collagen Essence, was a oops purchase.

This month, old items are getting tossed! The LUSH Deep Sleep Shower Jelly and the AvoShower Shower Jelly are old, broken down into slushie consistency, and just need to do. The Ahava Hydration Cream Mask is something I opened, used, and forgot to finish, so now it needs to go. Too Face Melted Chihuahua has the worst name and I dislike the color. It was an old swapped sample, so it's getting tossed, too.

Month of April:
Totals: 9 items / 3 packets
5 items thrown out

Empties Report Year to Date: 73 items / 50 packets
Thrown out Year to Date: 74 items

Did you finish anything this month? Would you repurchase?

Let me know in the comments!

Mani Round Up: May 8, 2018

Mid May! Still working with the new Zoya collection.

Zoya Missie: Winner, winner! Two coats, perfect formula, quick dry time, great color. Awesome.

Zoya Jack: Bravo to Zoya for including a neutral in a summer collection! This is a very warm almond color that will compliment quite a few skin tones. This is also your perfect Zoya formula, two coats and done.

Zoya Nahla over Zoya Jack: It seems like 1x per week, I want to do my nails without doing them. This week I layered two coats of Nahla over Jack. I wanted something sparkly on my nails to go see Avengers 3, so this is what I chose. I don't actually like the rando bigger glitters tossed in, I would prefer a uniform size of glitter, but those bigger pieces do grab the sun and light nicely. It works! Did you see the movie? Did you like it?!

Mask of the Week: The Creme Shop Collagen Face Mask

In case you stumble upon The Creme Shop masks at TJ MaXX and purchase them to try KB, just know there is plenty of controversy in the KB world about whether or not the brand is truly made in Korea.

Doesn't bother me much but I know some people can get very specific about stuff like that, so FYI on that one. However, if you don't mind the mysterious origins and just want to try some quality sheet masks on the cheap, I do use, recommend, and enjoy The Creme Shop.

I picked up a 5-pack of the Collagen Face Masks because I am overly obsessive about a line forming on my mouth area.

Nearly impossible to photograph because of the holo exterior, these masks promise to reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles, diminish the appearance of age spots, and help to firm and smoothen. Sweet deal!

Unrelated: smoothen is not OK, per my spellcheck. Is it a word or not!?

Let me just say that considering my lip is where I need the product, I hate the fit of this mask. I ended up wearing it for about ten mins, then folding it in half and setting it on my lip and chin area. Hope that's cool. It was cold to the touch and felt soothing on. I wore the mask for like 30 mins total and it had not dried fully. I didn't notice any immediate differences but I will try to use this at least weekly for longer termed results.

What do you think of The Creme Shop masks?

April 2018: Favorites and Flops

Hello there! It's May - hurray!

Let me show you what I loved - and disliked - in April.

L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Grow Foundation in 202: I originally purchased this in 204, but realized I am way more whitegirl than I thought, so I went back to grab 202. Prob should've grabbed 203, but I'll mix as my color changes in warmer weather. Anyway, this foundation is lightweight but full coverage and although it says "glow" on the name, it's really just a subtle brightening.

Manefit Honey Nutrition & Vitalizing Sheet Mask: You've seen this before! I am obsessed with this mask and need to find a non-US (read: less expensive) source to purchase these. There is a perfect amount of essence, the fit is great, and my skin looks instantly brighter and better after removal.

Scinic Honey All In One Ampoule: Just.Buy.This!! This thick honey serum will solve all of your skin problems, offer to put a down payment on the house of your dreams, rotate your tires, and offer to run your errands for the rest of your life. Serrrrriously, it's just that good.

e.l.f. Clear Lash/Brow Mascara: Also in the Just.Buy.This category is this $1 multi-tasker. You can use one side to tame your brows and the other for your lashes, but I just use it for my eyebrows. Perfect.

Lioele Auto Eyebrow Pencil in Dark Brown: I am going to buy these in bulk, too. Finally, an inexpensive (under $6) eyebrow pencil in the perfect dark brown shade for me. This also has a trianle tip for perfect arches.

Swatched below are the foundation and eyebrow pencil:

Flops?! What flops?! Since I did a No Beauty Buy April, I didn't try anything new. I stuck to my old favorites and didn't incorporate much into the mix. Maybe next month!

What are you loving - or deeming a flop - this month?

Mani Round Up: May 1, 2018

Time for another Mani Round Up, and, as promised, more new Zoya!

Zoya Ellie: How pretty is this?! I used just two coats of Ellie and a topcoat for this mani. It is the perfect creme polish that we have come to love from Zoya.

Barielle Hint of Tan: Palette cleanser after a long weekend of bright nails and good friends in Vermont! I did two coats of a bare nail and added topcoat. This line of 4 "hint" colors from Barielle are treatment polishes that help to nourish the nail. I am a fan of all 4 colors!

Zoya Marigold: Another new Zoya! You know I paint my nails in bed sometimes, right? I do, according to my pointer finger who threw me under the bus with that smudge on my cuticle. I hate this color, it looks nothing like a marigold, the shimmer barely translates to the nail, but the formula itself is flawless. Meh.

Zoya Delia: Can you tell I am loving the Sunshine collection from Zoya!? This is two perfect coats of a lovely deep lilac creme polish.

China Glaze Shocking Pink (Neon): Love this polish! It has a much more pastel, barbie feel to it in real life. It's your typical streaky-dries-to-matte polish, so I needed three fairly substantial coats and a generous heaping of topcoat for the finish.

Orly Hot Shot: I almost wasn't going to post this because it got SO smushed and ruined, but here is my fairly failed attempt to fix it. This color is NEON to the fullest. Three thin coats and apparently half your life in dry time required.

May: Samples Month!

April was No Beauty Buy month, and I would say, as we end this month and look to May, I was 99% successful. I did continue to purchase shampoo, conditioner, and face wipes as needed, because those are necessary and not optional!! I did make a small splurge at the Asian Grocery store near my boyfriend's house, but let's pretend that didn't count. My only real 'makeup' purchase was my e.l.f. Tinted Lip Oil that I will share with you on another post (coming soon).

I decided, given the success of April's No Beauty Buy, that May should have it's own theme, too. I have amassed quite a slew of samples that I used to hoard. My KB peers, however, say that samples should only have a shelf life of about 6 months or so. Yikes!

Therefore, I am naming May as Samples Month! I am going to try to work through my samples before they go bad! I may not review every item, but I will certainly let you know if I find a new Holy Grail or serious dud item.

March 2019: Empties & Tossed Report

I am continuing to try to use up products that have been laying around, including perfumes. So far, so good. Let me show you what I used in ...
