Mani Round Up: February 27, 2018

Wow. It was a BUSY week! I have the lamest blog post for you ever.

Zoya Brynn: So, I wore Zoya Haruko until like Wednesday, LOL. I was SO busy, then had to work at Ulta, and so on. By Wednesday morning, my chipped Haruko was SAD, so I did an emergency quickie mani using Zoya Brynn, a one coat creme. Seriously - 1 min to let my basecoat dry, one quick coat of Brynn, one quick coat of G&G and I was out the door.

Zoya Erika: Ok, I promise, no Zoya next week! Erika is just SO pretty...but it isn't the right color until I get more color! Can't wait to use this in August, LOL. This is two thin coats over a dash of Essie Ballet Slippers.

China Glaze Change Your Altitude: With the polish change came the nail shape change!! One broke so they all had to go. Square nails are tough, yall!! This is two flawless coats of CYA.

Lame week, right?! I'll try to be better next week!

Mask of the Week: Manefit Honey Nutrition & Vitalizing Sheet Mask

Hello there!

Mask Sunday is in full effect, but as I have mentioned, I do like to mask more than once a week! I'm not posting duplicate reviews each time I use a mask, but I do like to mention the best ones, including this week's post about the Manefit Honey Nutrition & Vitalizing Sheet Mask.

Guess where I got this?! CVS! I was visiting a friend and was early, so I popped into a local CVS that was chock full of goodies that my local CVS does not carry. This mask was $4 or so, which is more than I usually pay for KB masks, but it was CVS, I was intrigued, and there ya go.

Now, I need to re-purchase about 500 of these, so I need a lesser expensive option than CVS for the future! I have already found them on SokoGlam, so a purchase is in my future.

Since I need them in bulk, you can tell I love this mask, right??

The feel of the mask itself is wonderful. It comes attached to a weird mesh that is hard to remove. I thought the mesh was part of the mask for a while, which I didn't like, but once I peeled it off, it was great. The fabric is very thin and very saturated with essence. It's like a rubbery essence, LOL, almost like a serum!

I posted this mask in my KBeauty group and another person commented, saying it didn't feel like the essence totally washed off. I 110% agree with it, but I liked the feeling! To me, once it dried, it felt like a velvety primer on my skin. I loove a good primer, so I am OK with this aspect of it, personally.

I did add my other steps - see below - after I removed the mask and everything absorbed well, so even though there was still residue on the mask, it didn't impede the other steps in the routine.

I actually did three skins (layers) of the three toners, then I did my mask, then the eye gel and moisturizer to finish. I woke up with super supple, glowing skin!

I will certainly use the Manefit Honey Nutrition & Vitalizing Sheet Mask again, provided I can find a good deal on it!

Zoya Thrive Collection - Spring 2018

Woo hoo!

New Zoya collection! Spring MUST be coming soon, right?!

Before we just to the colors, let's talk about Zoya's new packaging. Why!? What if you only order 1 polish? How does it arrive now? I am not sure, but as elegant as this is, it seems wasteful to me. Any thoughts?

The polishes come in a gorgeous (but extra) sturdy box with a detailed swatch card.

And here is the group shot:

The collection is three cream, two sparkly, one topper. I am in love with 5 out of 6 of these, so it's really a winner of a collection. Let's take a look!

Here are the three cream, from pointer to ring - Monroe, Brandi, Trudith.

Monroe is described as a "glamour pink cream." What the hell does that mean? LOL. It's bright fuchsia in real life, and practically a one coater. I am going to get a ton of mileage with the baby. Gorgeous!

Brandi, a "blush pink cream" is also amazing. I love the muted quality about the color. This is two coats. This is the color I chose to wear after swatching. It is everything you want in a pink creme polish.

Trudith is also a muted lilac. It is actually quite close to Vicky, from the Kisses Collection, with more opacity. I did two coats here. This is another winner for me!

Leisel is the dud for me. I hardly ever add a topcoat to my cremes and this just doesn't stand alone well. I did three coats with no base to show you the color.

Leisel over Monroe, Brandi, Trudith - It is super pretty over Trudith, actually. I may have to wear that combo. My pinky has no base color for comparison sake.

Haruko is lamely described as a "soft, violet metallic." Um, no, Zoya, I am sorry, but this is a beautiful soft lavender with an even softer green/gold/lavender sheen to it. It is STUNNING and brightens the nail and skin. Haruko has a perfect formula and just glistens in the light.

Darby, well, you may want to sit down for this one. This is my favorite polish from the collection! Favorite! Blue! Can you believe it? Zoya also let me down with the description, calling it a "dusty, dull grey metallic." Uh. No. Bright, robin's egg blue with a gorgeous light blue/green/gold sheen to it. I am in absolute love with this one!!

In conclusion, Monroe and Darby are the standouts to me. 5 of these 6 will get plenty of use and I am sure I can find a good home for Leisel.

Are you going to snag any of the Thrive collection? Find them all at Zoya.com.

Mani Round Up: February 20, 2018

Wowza, Feb is flying, right?!

Let me show you what I wore last week!

Zoya Lacey over Zoya Blu: In case you didn't know, my first name is Lacey, so when I heard this polish was coming out, I was psyched.

When I saw the color that came out, I was ill. No, seriously. Doesn't like look like a slightly vomitus shade?! I tried Lacey over Blu, hoping it would look slightly better, but no.

Zoya Sweet: Sweet color, right?! Heh. This is your typical pink creme. It's a little watery for a Zoya, to be honest. I have the same colors in better formulas, so this baby might be getting ditched. Two coats here, but needs three. Womp, womp.

Zoya Hera: This is the color I actually wore on 2/14. Pretty right?! This, unlike Sweet, has a smashing formula, opaque in just ONE coat. Perfection!

Zoya Haruko: I love this beauty!! This is from the Thrive collection. Thrive collection, you ask!? You'll see more on Thursday!!!!

Mask of the Week: Josie Maran Whipped Mud Mask in Vanilla Apricot

Once a week, I need a double mask to really clear out my pores and allow the rest of my skincare routine to really take effect. My choice for that task was the Whipped Mud Mask Argan Hydrating and Detoxiying Treatment by Josie Maran. I have this in a lavender scent as well as this Vanilla Apricot scent.

The whipped mud texture is much lighter and less drying than a traditional mud mask. I apply this to freshly double cleansed skin using my elf spatula tool.

In addition to the aesthetically pleasing aspect of looking exactly like an apricot, this has a light scent. It won't bother anyone as it is not heavily fruity or floral. It dries fairly quickly, in about 7-12 minutes, but does not tighten on the skin like a regular mud mask thanks to the 'hydrating' properties added. I made the mistake of using a way too thick layer because there wasn't enough for another application following this one. I used the rest on my neck, which you thankfully cannot see here.

After rinsing, the skin is supple, soft, and smooth. It is prepped and ready to absorb your other products. Make sure to follow a mask like this - drying, pore cleansing - with something extra moisturizing to replenish what you've just removed. I would recommend this line if you dislike the extra tightness of traditional mud masks and if you love colored masks. This is even brighter in person than the photo shows and my lavender version is a fun purple!

January 2018: Empties & Tossed Report

Time for the Empties Report!

This year I will also be adding on a photo of anything I need to throw out.  I wanted to use Purge but it can be a trigger word, so I will go with Tossed, LOL. I am definitely on the edge of hoarding with some makeup, and it is time for that to end. If it no longer brings joy, it has to go, right?!

First up, let me show you what I finished up. I am going to continue to work on samples and deluxe samples as they have quicker expiry dates than bigger products, for the most part.

There are 32 items above! I am not going to talk about each, but instead, shown below, I will spotlight a few items that I love and would re-purchase. I will do the same with sample packets, too.

LUSH Cosmetics Ultrabland I've mentioned this enough, right? You know I already had a backup waiting. I can't be without this stuff!

LUSH Cosmetics Mirror Mirror: Since the Kitchen closed, this is now irreplaceable. Sigh. I purchased a Murad Neck Cream and I hope it works, but it won't be the same. This has a nice thick texture, a comforting smell, and sank into the skin nicely. It will be missed!

LUSH Cosmetics Plum Rain Shower Gel: Psyched that this is now in the permanent range! It smells of sweet, ripe plums, and the scent is pungent but not overpowering. Love!

Exuviance Super Retinol Concentrate: Sigh - I hate that wrinkles are a concern, but they are! Luckily, working at Ulta with amazing co-workers, I now know the best stuff to try. This is the stuff!

Innisfree Orchid Lotion: I tried samples of this before committing. It is a regular moisturizer that sinks right into the skin. It smells divine - though not like orchids - and is affordable.

SK II Essence: This, on the other hand, is not affordable, LOL.

Japonesque Velvet Touch Facial Primer: I posted about this in my Faves a few times but probably won't repurchase again due to the price. It is pretty high in silicone, too.

Formula 10.0.6 Face Wipes: And, to end the list, this is another product that I never run out of and always have on hand! If you haven't tried these wipes, you must!

This month I also used 26 packets. Apparently, most have a shelf-life of only 6 months, so I am going to continue to use these up as quickly as I can.

Standouts include: WonderPore Toner in a convenient travel pack, IOPE Whitegen Ampoule Essence that I would purchase a full size of if I wasn't broke. That goes double for the Sulwhasoo Radiance Energy Mask. I did enjoy the Moistfull Collagen Essence even though I mistakenly purchased it, and I plan to buy a full size TonyMoly Intense Care Gold Snail Cream when I need a new moisturizer.

I threw out 22 lippies, 2 samples that I couldn't read, an old primer, and an old solid perfume. That makes 26 items tossed. The bottom row of chapsticks are SO old that the company went out of business.

Empties Report January 2018 Total: 32 Empties & 26 Packets!

Valentine's Day Mani: 3D!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I used Zoya Kelsey as the base, and added 3D studs to my fingers using clear polish to set and to seal them in. I used this nifty little wax tipped tool that I bought at a polish convention to easily pick and place each one. The same little tool was used to place my accent nail of heart glitters.

What did you wear on your nails for the Day of Luuurrvvee!?

Mani Round Up: February 13, 2018

It is the week of love this week, but let me show you what I wore on my hands last week! (I am overtired, I think...no creative intro, haha).

Zoya Erika: Hello, new favorite Zoya. How freakin' pretty is this! It has a pink base but the prettiest bright gold glitter. I own nothing like this!! This is also included in the Bridal Bliss boxed collection. It is by far my favorite from the box and pretty close to being my favorite Zoya ever! Three perfect coats and topcoat.

Zoya Bela: This pretty polish reminds me of Essie Ballet Slippers. It is so dainty and just pretty and (ahem) polished looking. This is from the Bridal Bliss collection I was sent to review. I did three thin coats and topcoat.

Zoya McKenna: Can you guess, my long time readers, what I have to say about this one?! STREAKS. This is just oh so slightly metallic, which means, careful lines and careful painting to avoid brush strokes. Pretty, but worth the hassle? Not sure when you can just get Chantal and have a perfect creme. Just sayin.

Zoya Kelsey: If I had to deviate from the Bridal Bliss collection, I had to at least stick to new-ish Zoya. Kelsey is from the Party Girls collection, it's your typical perfect formula hot pink/fuchsia creme that we all know and love Zoya for creating. Even if it's not the most unique shade, it's flattering nonetheless and the formula is stellar. Two coats and topcoat.

Zoya Blu: How pretty is this! Well, in addition to pretty, it's also amazing. This baby is practically a ONE coat pastel blue creme! GTFO! That's so rare! It's creamy, not chalky, not streaky, just really really good!! Two coats for good measure here.

Masks of the Week: Exuviance Detox Mud Treatment, A'Pieu Coconut Milk One-Pack, & Ulta Mask Remover Cloths

Hello there!

You can see from the title that it was a multi masking kind of week over here. I used the following:

  • Exuviance Detox Mud Treatment,
  • A'Pieu Coconut Milk One-Pack, &
  • Ulta Remover Cloths

First, I double cleansed my face and then applied the Exuviance Mud Treatment. This is a brand that I have discovered from working at Ulta. It's a mid-to-high (high for me) priced range that I would not have just randomly tried, but after advice and suggestions from my co-workers, it is safe to say I am hooked. This Mud Treatment came in a GWP from another purchase. It is your standard mud mask and washes off to leave the skin purified but tight feeling.

I removed the Exuviance Mud Treatment using a random purchase that I also snagged at Ulta - Mask Removing Cloths!  The package says to save your washcloths from stains and use this instead.

The $3 tube contains 10 little tablets. You hold it under warm water and it expands. Use the wet, very soft and fibrous cloth to wipe your face and then throw away.

I actually dig these! I hate using a washcloth because I am so messy and I tend to apply a thick layer of product. The cloth is much softer than a papertowel and more durable, too. You can actually wring and twist out the cloth a few times before it starts to wear away. I still made a black charcoal mess all over the place, however, LOL. I dislike the excess waste but I hardly ever use a thick mask like this so I think it is worth the use and purchase for me.

After I washed off that mask, I applied my toner, emulsion, essence, serum, then this A'Pieu sheet mask to add moisture back in and lock in the other products.

Back of the mask...no English.  Clean face, mask on 'till it dries or you get bored - the usual.

This mask smelled very lightly of coconut, but otherwise just smelled like a fresh essence. It dried quite quickly - I maybe had it on for ten minutes. There was not a ton of essence, though, which contributed to the dry time.

My skin felt soft, supple, and bouncy after that night's regimen. I have used two of the A'Pieu milk masks and enjoyed both, so I will stock up on those with my next KB purchase.

January 2018: Favorites & Flops

Hello 2018!

I loved doing my Favorites and Fails posts in 2017. It was such a good reminder, for me personally, LOL, of what I loved and what I should not purchase.

This year, I am going to change things up only slightly. I am ditching the word Fail in favor of Flop, because even though something might not work for me, it might not be a fail for YOU, my lovely readers. Flop seems a little more gentle, doesn't it!?

As usual, let's start with my Favorite items from January:

  • I loved L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Sculpt Mascara!
  • I loved ColourPop Super Shock Cheek in Parallel!
  • I loved Burt's Bees Overnight Lip Mask!
  • I loved Milani's Keep It Smooth Luxe Lip Treatment!

A few weeks ago, I was in a mood and in a uncomfortable position, so I went online shopping. Fixes everything but your credit card debt, right?! ColourPop is so inexpensive that you can make quite a satisfying haul for fairly inexpensively, so that's what I did. I picked Parallel, a super bright blush, and I have used it every day since! I cannot get a brush to work with it, so I just use my fingers and dab it along my cheekbone line and then a few dots right on my cheeks. It lasts ALL day and is so pigmented.

If you live in a cold climate, you know all about chapped lips. Not just chapped lips, but dry, peeling, flaking, bleeding...I could go on and on. This year, however, I am beyond prepared! The Milani, on the right, is a lighter, gel texture for day, and the Burt's Bees is a waxier, clingier texture for overnight. Love BOTH and both were under $10 each.

Lastly, I couldn't get a proper pic of the L'Oreal mascara's wand, but it's funky! I actually saw an Ulta customer (I work there..I think you've got that, right?) with amazing lashes and asked what she used. Surprisingly, she pointed to the mass (drug store) side of the store! The Voluminous Mascara does exactly as promised, no clumping, and no flaking below the eyes. Legit LOVE, and the price makes it even better.

Now, it is time for everyone's least favorite portion of the post: the Flops.

Just two Flops to report!

Farsali Unicorn Essence: I was swayed by everyone's love and rave reviews for this, but it does nothing for me. It IS fun to put on since it is glittery and pink and dries to an instant, velvety matte, but that's about it. Womp.

Pacifica Rose Water Makeup Removing Wipes: I dared to sway from my Formula 10.0.6 wipes and that was a doozy of a mistake. These all natural wipes smell great but just smeared my makeup all over my face. Gross. However, my Mom loves them and they do great with her makeup, so they will go to good use, at least.

What do you think of these products? Love or hate any of them?!

Tell me in the comments,

Mani Round Up: February 6, 2018

Holy moly - it's February!!

Let me show you what I put on my nails this past week!

butterLONDON Fruit Machine and butterLONDON Molly Coddled: Love how this came out! I must admit, though...I cheated. I don't have the time, patience, or latex barrier for a real ombre mani, so I actually paint 2/3rds one color, 1/3 another color, and then do a nice smushy sponge in between to blend. SO much easier, so much quicker, more opaque, and less messy. Score!

SinfulColors Skylark: Is this a weird banana peach color or is it just me?! I wanted to use this for the base of a french, but it smudged to high hell and I forgot to take a pic. Anyway, this color applies well but it is just awful! Buh-bye, Skylark!

Zoya Vickie: I am all over the place this week! There is no discernible theme here. I was inspired to grab Vickie from Zoya's social media - I forget if it was Twitter or Instagram. I do love the pale, tinted, wash of purple that Vickie gives you in two coats. It's super muted but purple enough to look like it is nail polish and not frozen finger tips.

Zoya Brighton: Oooh, new Zoya, you ask?! Why, yes! Brighton is the only new shade of the newly released Bridal Bliss collection. The boxed set is targeted towards bridal parties and salon use, I think, given that many are core polish colors. Anyway, Brighton is new and amaaazing! This is three thin coats and topcoat. Expect to see more BB collection colors next week.

Mask of the Week: A'Pieu Sweet Peach Sheet Mask

I love anything peach! When I randomly saw these A'Pieu Sweet Peach Sheet Masks for a steal on ebay, I knew I wanted to give them a try.

BTW - purchasing cosmetics in general, nevermind KB that might not have a ton of English on it, can be risky to do on ebay. Join groups on Facebook to find recommended sellers that others have used and trusted, and take the time to read reviews on the sale sites before purchasing. Just sayin'!

Unlike that pumpkin mask that I reviewed a few weeks ago, the scent of this mask was light, fruity, and subtle. In fact, I wish it smelled slightly stronger!

The fit of this mask was nice and snug. It seems like it is made out of a fabric instead of a paper/fiber sheet.

The essence in this mask dissipated quickly, and it dried down faster than I hoped. I like my mask time! When I removed the sheet and rubbed in the excess, my skin remained quite sticky to the touch. I was able to add my other skincare products on easily though, with no pilling of the layers underneath. I did not notice any immediate benefits from this mask, but it was a pleasant experience!

March 2019: Empties & Tossed Report

I am continuing to try to use up products that have been laying around, including perfumes. So far, so good. Let me show you what I used in ...
