Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask v. Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask - Lip Mask Comparison

As you know, I am obsessed with face masks. I love sheet masks, peel off masks, overnight packs, on and on. If it says "mask" then I'll try it.

You may or may not know that I am a huge lip balm fan, too. That is more of necessity as I have, or had, the driest lips ever! When I got into the world of masking (you can fall deep down the rabbit hole, trust), I found out about a beautiful and amazing beauty innovation: LIP MASKS!!

What is a lip mask? Unlike a regular balm, lip masks are heavier and made to be used overnight, allowing the product to truly penetrate the skin. Think of a sheet mask compared to a sleeping pack, but for your lips.

Here are my two:

When I got into KBeauty, I coveted the LaNeige Lip Sleeping Mask, which is basically considered a cult classic in KB land. I couldn't find it at Sephora (online only), and I didn't believe in the power of the lip mask, so I held off purchasing.

For my birthday in August, I treated myself to a Sephora splurge (which I'll be paying off till my next birthday) and wanted a lip mask to try, so I super splurged and bought one from Bite Beauty. Of course, days later, the LaNeige mask showed up in an unbelievable deal online, so I bought that in a sample size, too.

Now that I have both, which is better?!

Let me tell you about each one.

LaNeige Lip Sleeping Mask: According to the Sephora website, the full size is $20 for 0.7oz of product. The full size comes like my mini, housed in a pot that you have to use your finger or a spatula. I know quite a few people who dislike sticking their fingers in little pots, so that is one comment to note here.

There is a light, almost fruity scent, and a bit of a taste, too (not that you should eat it). It is very soft to the touchy, like a light lip gloss. It stays overnight pretty well, but I can taste it a bit in the morning and it pools to the sides of my lips due to it's very light texture.

Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask: This full size tube is $26 and comes with just 0.56 oz of product, which makes it much more expensive than the LaNeige. It comes in a tube, so you just squeeze it to get your product out, no fingers needed.

It has no color, no scent, and no taste. If you prefer, there are two tinted versions, too. This product is almost like a glue for the lips - it is THICK. If you dislike being able to feel products on your lips, this might bug you (actually, forget the might. It will.). It stays on overnight and sinks in, I feel nothing but soft lips in the morning.

Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask!

I like how thick it is, how it stays firmly on the lips. I love how well it absorbs. By comparison, I actually used the LaNeige again last night, and I had some peeling skin on my lip this morning, but there was plenty of product still on my lips. Bite is scent-free and taste-less. My lips feel like plump pillows of softness when I wake up and matte lipstick application is no worry at all! Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask is the one for me!

Do you use a lip mask? What brand and why? If not, did this make you want to try one?
