I am not sure where you live, but May really marks the beginning of Spring in Connecticut. April is wishful thinking month, with a misleading mix of 70 degree weather followed by snow, but May should be consistently NOT freezing - fingers crossed.
I am still doing well with paring down my makeup and skincare. I've also noticed I have been buying and trying a lot more skincare than makeup, which is probably good for my face but bad for my wallet.
Let's see what I finished up this month!
Like last month, I am not going to list all of these samples. Stand-outs, however, include the Coochy (LOL, I know) Shave Gel from Pure Romance and my new staple, Purito Vitamin C Serum, which I went ahead and ordered in a full size.
Josie Maran Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm: I received this in March's Sephora PLAY! box and was excited to try it because I love Josie Maran's line. I love the consistency of this balm - once I mixed it together. Not only was it separated in the tub, which may happen with an oil base, but it was so difficult to mix together and the sample was paltry, so I didn't really feel like I gave it a fair shot.
Would I repurchase? Nope, I don't think so.
GLAMGLOW GlowStarter MEGA ILLUMINATING Moisturizer in Nude Glow: Love this product! Let me count the ways! It smells like orange creamsicle. It blends into the skin so nicely. Makeup layers so well over it. AND IT SMELLS LIKE A CREAMSICLE!
Would I repurchase? Yeeeeeeeesssss!!!!!!!
LeeAnni Eco 3-in-1 Revolution Light: I have had this forever, constantly forgot about it, and liked it when I used it. It is such a light weight moisturizer that it almost has that new trendy water moisturizer feel.
Would I repurchase? No, probably not.
Clinique Pep Start Hydro Blur Moisturizer: You have already seen this baby on my Favorites and Fails report, which you might think already answers the "Would I repurchase?" question. However, for me, it does not. While I do love the texture of this product, it is supposed to be a moisturizer AND a primer. I don't go in that order. I do moisturizer, BB cream, primer, foundation, so as much as I loooove this product, it isn't for my routine.
Would I repurchase? No, but I would highly recommend it to others!
Tarte Frxxxtion Stix: This was a welcome addition from a recent Sephora PLAY! box. This cool black stick cleanser is an exfoliator and cleanser in one. With the stick applicator, you can target exfoliate spots, which is super helpful. The grit in it is gentle and effective.
Would I repurchase? I might! Super convenient, smells great, and is gentle.
34 Spray: My bff Katie whipped up this spray/oil for our little group of friends, consisting of a mix of essential oils. I used this as the last step of my routine and also spot tapped it on to wrinkly spots.
Would I repurchase? As this baby is not sold in stores, I cannot!
Face Products for Sleep:
Rata & Co Coconut Oil Sleep Mask 7 Day Rescue Pack: See that Marshall's price tag? As a mask lover, coconut oil lover, and sleep mask officiando, I HAD to buy this. Unfortunately, as I tend to collect sleep masks, I didn't use it for the full 7 days in a row as suggested.
Would I repurchase? For that price point, yes! I noticed more moisturized skin immediately.
First Aid Beauty Sleep Accelerator: Oh, Ulta! The First Aid Beauty set up is right across from the Tony Moly and Formula 10.0.6 face wipes, so clearly I snagged this one day randomly. I am glad I did! It has a thick, lotiony texture that covers everything. There is a fresh, not overwhelming scent, and my skin looks noticeably more plump in the morning. The only con is that you NEED to wipe your skin down in the morning before applying makeup.
Would I repurchase? Yes! Good new find!
Etude House Bubble Tea Sleeping Pack: Cute packaging, it'll get ya. I bought a 3-pack of this when it was on sale on MemeBox. The 3 variations are firming, brightening, and moisturizing, although all 3 are moisturizing. I forget which one this was, LOL. I did like these at the beginning, but these are pretty slimy, to be honest. I gunk them over whatever else is already on my face.
Would I repurchase? Nope! The spell has worn off, LOL.
Pacifica Wake Up Beautiful Super Hydrating Sleepover Mask: This is a super thick sleep mask, meant to be worn at night and washed off in the morning. This was my April 2017 Fail, as I dislike the texture and the left over bits in my hair in the morning. Smells good, at least.
Would I repurchase?? No way!
Macadamia Professional Nourishing Moisture Oil Treatment: I love this brand! If you haven't tried the Macadamia Professional line, you are missing out! I apply this slick serum to the ends of my hair after the shower. It smells amazing (if you like macadamia, nutty smells) and helps eliminate split ends.
Would I repurchase? Yes! I already have!
Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle Leave-in Conditioner: This came to me in a swap as it was my second bottle! I have long, thick, very prone to tangles hair no matter what shampoo/conditioner combo I use, no matter if I comb it while wet in the shower, no matter if I air dry, towel dry, or blow dry. I cannot live without a detangler.
Would I repurchase? Yes, though I am not sure where this is sold and I do receive them often enough in swaps and sub boxes.
Clinique Happy Gelato Cream for Body: I love this stuff! What started as a free sample with purchase turned into re-purchasing the full size TWICE now! This smells amazing, is super thick, and really melts into the skin.
Would I repurchase? Yes!
Haus of Gloi Mango Sticky Rice Body Butter: Stop for one sec...Imagine the fresh scent of mango, then coconut, then sweetness...altogether. Got that scent? That is the exact, so amazing it's hard to believe it is real, scent of this butter. Amaaaazing. Plus, small biz FTW!
Would I repurchase? Yes - but this scent is almost cloyingly sweet. I prefer their Honeysuckle Lemon scent more.
LUSH Cosmetics Santa's Belly Shower Jelly: Wobbly wonderfulness! I love the Shower Jellies, but this one smells like straight apples. Not my fave.
Would I repurchase? Nope...and I actually threw out a little, too.
LUSH Cosmetics Potion Body Lotion: I snagged this beauty from the LUSH Kitchen. I heard great things about it, so I tried it sight unseen...unsniffed? Not a fan! This smells more like spices to me than anything else.
Would I repurchase? Nope!
LUSH Cosmetics Prince Charming Shower Cream: It is neon pink, it's creamy and thick, my skin feels amazing after, and it smells like pomegranate.
Would I repurchase? You better believe I had a backup bottle - huge size - waiting. Unfortunately, this is a Valentine's Day product so I need to use it sparingly.
Philosophy Amazing Grace Firming Body Emulsion: This was a sample from a recent Sephora trip. I usually dislike any Philosophy products, but I'll try any surprise tossed in my bag! Unfortunately, since this was a little sample, I can't judge it by one try.
Would I repurchase? No, it smells like every other Philo product I have used, and I am just not a fan.
Secret Clinical Strength Smooth Solid Light and Fresh: I am not going to review this extensively, since deodorant works differently for everyone, but this was effective for me, and not irritating on my skin.
Would I repurchase? Sure, although I like my Lady Mitchum more.
NYC New York Color Cosmetics Eyeliner in Taupe: You have seen this on the blog a million times. This is my favorite cheapie eyebrow pencil. I always, always have it on hand and I have even got my Mom (lol, roommate) into it, too.
Would I repurchase? Yessssss! I buy at least 2 or 3 at a time.
That's it for April!
Empties Total: 20 products (plus 13 foil packets)
Year to Date: 82 products and 30 foil packets.
Again, as I say every month, doing this post forces me to look at what I've been consuming and what I like and dislike. I have a couple awesome trips coming up at the end of June, so I am going to continue to use what I have and save $ for other things, like vaca!
