Doing the Empties Report posts has me paying attention to what I am using more closely than ever. I am trying not to purchase items unless I need them, like moisturizer or conditioner, and I am swapping for items that are not necessities, like eye creams.
I am also moving more into KBeauty, so I am trying samples of items from eopenmarket.com to introduce myself to different brands. I want to keep track of what I use and love but I will keep a separate count of sample packets from other items.
Skincare Samples: Like last month, most of these are samples from eopenmarket.com's Lucky Box, a mystery package of samples with an awesome value. I have purchased 2 Lucky Boxes and have received over 50 different packets to try!
I am not going to review all of these, but I do have a few notes about standout items:
Misshka Dong Baek Gold Shampoo: this made an appearance in my Favorites and Fails post from earlier this week. The smell is so pleasant, and my hair has never been softer.
Would I repurchase? Once I use up the giant bottle of Rusk Sensories shampoo in my shower, I plan to switch to this shampoo!
Purito Vitamin C Serum: I am a huge fan of this serum! My skin is instantly brighter and softer.
Would I repurchase? Yes!
Formula 10.6 Wipe Your Face Off Makeup Removing Facial Wipes: These are still my go to face wipes. No matter the season or my skin's current moisture levels, these are never irritating.
Would I repurchase? Yes! I am fully committed to this product, LOL.
Murad Skin Smoothing Polish: One item I do not need in my skincare routine is an exfoliator. I have yet to find something gentle enough for my skin. I received this with a Murad purchase recently and though it is for the face, I found myself using it on my hands instead, where I can get away with using exfoliating products without irritation.
Would I repurchase? Nope.
Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief: I am a huge fan of this line, especially during the summer. I purchased a value pack around Christmas that also included an overnight creme and eyecream. It sinks into the skin nicely, has a cool gel/lotion feel to it, and no discernable smell. It mixes well with other products, too, and doesn't pill up when it's put over other products.
Would I repurchase? I am working through a few other products now BUT this is the exact reason why I keep track here on the blog, I certainly would repurchase this - I just need to remember that later!
LUSH Cosmetics Celestial Moisturizer: I thoroughly appreciate LUSH sending samples with orders from the UK Kitchen. I actually purchased the full size of this once upon a time, but after more recently using the sample, I remembered why I didn't re-purchase before. This has a heavy perfumed vanilla smell and just feels heavy on my skin, sitting on top and not absorbing.
Would I repurchase? No, I would not.
Ole Henricksen Sheer Transformation Perfecting Creme: I received this light cream in a Sephora PLAY! box. It has no scent, a super light texture that makes it perfect under makeup, and it sinks into the skin well.
Would I repurchase? I think no, but only because I like a heavier moisturizer at night and a tinted and glowly moisturizer under makeup. I do recommend this though, very much, if you're looking for a lightweight and effective moisturizer.
Olay Tone Perfecting Cream: I have received a few samples of these in swaps. I like having it around, but haven't had to buy it yet. This is a medium thick creme with no scent. If I use it for a few days consistently, I do notice my skintone more even right away,
Would I repurchase? I hope to keep swapping for it so I have it on hand!
Rhonda Allison Moisture Au Lait: When I had a facial for my last birthday, my estie was nice enough to give me a few samples of the Rhonda Allison line, including this Moisture Au Lait product that was supposed to be a miracle worker. I also purchased a cucumber scented spitz that I ADORE, but this one didn't make the cut.
Would I repurchase? Nope. I didn't find it special enough to repurchase. The cucumber spritz, on the other hand, was scent from heaven and I will always have it on hand!
Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream: Another Sephora PLAY! inclusion! Clinique products are pretty fab, although I admit I didn't notice a different between this and other eyecreams that I have tried. My skin is still very firm and free of fine lines, so I think as long as I consistently use an eyecream, the exact one doesn't matter just yet.
Would I repurchase? As I mentioned in the intro, eyecreams are something I don't go out of my way to purchase but I seem to always have one on hand from sample boxes and swaps, I wouldn't purchase this but I'd swap for a second.
Serums, Toners, Essences:
These came from the eopenmarket.com Lucky Box. I am starting to love the Purito brand, which creates all three of the serums on the left. The Purito Vitamin C serum is my favorite, it smells bright and makes my skin bright. Love it!
LUSH Cosmetics Turkish Delight Shower Smoothie: I adore this stuff! I cannot justify buying it regularly, but I do when I splurge! The consistency is a super thick soap, think of liquifying bar soap. It smells exactly like an old bar soap, but I can't remember which one. Dove, maybe? I feel squeaky clean after using this, almost to the point of skin tightness, but I love the scent and texture so much.
Would I repurchase? Yes! I'd love to have this one hand regularly.
Victoria Secret Bomb Shell Body Spray: Every year, I purchase a few travel VS sprays as gifts and usually end up finding a reason to keep at least 1 or 2 of them. Each scent is sexy, the fragrance lasts quite a while even for sprays, and they are purse friendly.
Would I repurchase? Yes! Working on another one now.
Hempz White Peach Rose & Peony lotion: I purchased this at Sally Beauty to have a bottle to keep in my purse. This is a great one to have with you because it is so light - almost a gel feel - and absorbs so quickly. The scent is light and refreshing, too.
Would I repurchase? I have quite a few small sized bottles lying around now, so I can't justify the repurchase for quite a while. If you're in the market for a sweet, light lotion for the office though, check out this line.
Herbal Essences Argan Oil of Morocco Conditioner: Just want to shout of to Influenster for sending this for review! The argan scent is sweet, a scent I love in beauty products. My frizzy hair was smoothed down and looked thick and healthy.
Would I repurchase? Yes! I am still working on the shampoo and I love that, too.
B3 Brazillian Bond Builder: I purchased this from the salon where I get my hair done in East Haddam, CT. I had blond ombre ends done, so I needed something to stop my hair from turning copper, which I can't stand!
Would I repurchase? Yes! This treatment product is quite luxe, thick, and feels like it penetrates my hair. The softness lasts for days!
Beauty Secrets Acetone: I regularly purchase this remover from Sally Beauty Supply. It is a great price, comes in value sized giant jugs, is regularly on sale anyway, and doesn't smell too strongly. It takes off glitter polish with ease and leaves my hands only slightly dry after use.
Would I repurchase? Yes! Def recommend it, too.
Studio Beauty 100% Acetone: I snagged this at Walmart when I couldn't get to Sally. I was lured to it by the bottle - a push down top is really convenient! I figured I would use the remover inside and be able to recycle the bottle in the future. Unfortunately, the remover itself is SO strong and stripped my hands of moisture, leaving them chalky and white after use. The pump top stopped working well before I even finished the remover inside, let alone getting to use again.
Would I repurchase? No way! The outside and the inside are equally as awful.
That's it for March! I am really noticing how much I consume and it is not good, honestly.
