Pahlish Last Rose of Summer & Nail Art

It is the last day of 2015! Where has the time gone? I am still working on my Favorites of 2015 post but in the meantime, let's end the year on MBHM with a gorgeous indie polish (pahlish, haha) and some nail art.

If you follow Pahlish on Facebook and IG, they announce limited batch releases that are oh so gorgeous. When I saw this beauty, Last Rose of Summer, it took me all of .5 seconds to add to my cart and check out.  Take a look:

LRoS is a creamy orchid polish with a subtle smattering of flakkies, one of the biggest new trends that we saw in the polish world in 2015. The formula was great! My index and pinky finger each have three coats that built well and dried fairly quickly.

On my middle and ring finger, I applied white polish, let that dry, then used striping tape to make an X across each nail.  The other color I used, I believe, was L'Oreal Masked Affair. Everything was topped with HK Girl.

Here are a macro photo in the sun! Love that holo!

Zoya Whisper Collection

Christmas is over, it's almost the New Year, but Spring is still a long way away...especially here in New England. To capture this time of the year, Zoya has released a new, 6-piece "transitional" collection! Today's post is my review of the entire Whisper collection! Zoya says: "Experience color serenity with this muted and tranquil palette of transitional nail neutrals."

Group shot:

I am going to go in order of the photo above. Each swatch below is just two coats, no topcoat. The formula is the same for all 6: easy to work with, creme, self leveling, dries fairly quickly.

First up, this is April, which Zoya describes as "A light, rosy toned neutral that is a modern take on blush." Colors like this are easy to wear for anyone. It isn't the most original color but it is something everyone should have in their collection.

Next, Misty is a " An easy to wear taupe that is an updated version of gray with just a touch of green to make it daring." This is a greyish color that reminds me of Zoya Dove without the matte finish.

Cala is quite lovely, described as "A soft nude with a kiss of warmth that will flatter most skin tones." I love peach meets neutral colors like this. It reminds me of a muted version of my beloved Orly Prelude to a Kiss. I will definitely reach for this over and over.

There are also three more colorful polishes. Lake is a "A softened blue that gives the effect of serene water with just a hint of vibrancy to preserve its luminosity."

Ireland is my least favorite, honestly. It is described as "A uniquely wearable green that is muted enough to make it subtle yet still interesting. This green is well balanced between blue & yellow so it’s flattering on all skin tones." These pea green colors just don't agree with me. It is more yellow than it looks in the pics.

Last but not least, Eastyn is "a subtle grayed grape that is more interesting than mauve and gives a modern alternative that is ever so wearable." It is the most vibrant of the collection but still muted and subtle.

And there you have it! I do love Cala the best, I know I will wear that over and over. What do you think of this collection?

Flowers On A Iron Fence Mani Featuring Illamasqua Purity

Did you see the title of this post? Flowers on a fence mani? What does that even mean!?

Let me show you!

It may not be for everyone, but I absolutely love how this manicure turned out! Besides the fact that it took forever to do, I really enjoyed it and rocked it for about a week. That is pretty much forever in polish blogger time.

Let's back up a little to see how this came together.

First, I started with two coats of my favorite peach, Purity by Illamasqua. If you haven't tried this brand, I highly recommend it. The creme formula is just perfection as even this usually patchy shade is opaque in two coats. This is one of the first higher end brands that I tried and I love every polish I have from Illamasqua.

Next, I added decals from  They are full finger sticky decals, not waterslide. I am still getting the hang of the design. Getting them perfectly flat is really tough for me! I wonder if there is too much c-curve in my nail or it's just user error? Haha, whatever, I will keep trying.

I liked this look alone but I was thinking it reminded me of an old wrought iron fence. I decided flower decals would make this look complete. I pulled out a variety of rose-like waterslide decals and applied them randomly.

I liked this so much I even took photos of my non-swatching hand!

I sealed everything with a final coat of HK Girl topcoat. What do you think? Leave comments below or on FB.

Celestial Cosmetics - Asteroid

Australian indie companies, like Glam Polish and Celestial Cosmetics, are definitely on my radar right now. I was lucky enough for swatch for Celestial earlier this year and I have a good friend who has sent me some other Celestial Polishes. Today I have a gorgeous holo that was gifted to me called Asteroid.

This polish is perfection! Asteroid is a bright royal purple with a nice burst of holo. The formula is great, opaque in just two coats with minimal dry time. My swatches show two coats and HK Girl topcoat.

Holiday Mani Idea: White With Gold Leafing!

Typical manis for the upcoming Christmas holiday include red, green, and glitter. How about something a little different?

For this mani, I used two coats of Zoya Genesis. If you wear Genesis on its own, you would need a third coat for full opacity, but knowing something was going over it, I went with just two. I grabbed these gold stickers - they are truly stickers and not waterslides - from bornprettystore and put one on each nail. I finished the look with topcoat to seal it and there you have it!

If you're looking for something different during the upcoming holiday season, this color combination may be just what you need.

This is a different light, no flash. Looks lux! Oh, I forgot to mention, the decals are form You can get them in black, gold, blue, pink and a few other colors as well. I believe these shots have a matte topcoat on.

Second Look Post: Basking In The Sand by SuperChic Lacquer/Wonder Beauty Polish

I haven't done a Second Look Post in a while! A SLP is exactly what it sounds like: I used a polish that I haven't used in forever and am featuring it on the blog again.

Today's polish is Basking In The Sand, created by SuperChic Lacquer/Wonder Beauty Products. Check it out:

This polish came out in 2014 as part of the Day Tripper collection. It is a nude polish with tons of shimmer. Do those count as flakkies? I don't think so, I think it is just a rich shimmer...maybe a glass fleck?  Whatever it is, it is beautiful!

This is three thin coats with topcoat. The formula is great. The first coat was a bit patchy but I think I had too little of it on the brush. The second coat reached full opacity and the third just added that little extra something.

One last pic! Looks like a decadent vanilla frosting to me. Such a great color. I do not see it in her shop any longer but you may be lucky enough to snag it in a blog sale.

Influenser Spice Vox Box Review

I am so happy to be a part of @Influenster because I get to try get new products and share my thoughts with you!

This time I received the Spice Vox box, filled with a variety of items...kind of random mix, actually, but still awesome to receive. Here is my box, first with the list of the stuff inside, prices, and where to find it:

And the very generous products!

You already know I was most excited for new beauty products!

I received full size shampoo and condition from SoapBox, which smells amazing. I read a little more about the company and turns out they donate products with each purchase, so this is a company you can feel great about supporting.

I am not sure how Influenster knew I needed new mosturizer, but great timing! In a land where chemicals and parabens are all over everything, I am excited to try Botanics Organic products. I received the Hydrating Day Cream. Smells clean and fresh and smoothed over my hand (how else do you sample things?) nicely without a greasy feel.

SinfulColors Sinful Shine line is coming back! I couldn't find this in stores for a while but now I am seeing displays pop up in Walgreens again. SinfulColors always wins awards for it's wearability and affordability. The Sinful Shine line is a formula with even more shine (duh) than the original. I haven't tried the topcoat yet but I am thankful to have it here to try! I do own the color they sent me already so look for a giveaway coming soon :)

Not Your Mother's Mousse smells nice but I never use products in my hair so this may be gifted to my Aunt or Grandmother who have curly hair. The NYM line is well-known though, and I have heard great things.

Yum! Veggie Stix are a veggie derived snack chip with great crunch. The Sea Salt flavor and super crunch makes you almost forget you're not eating potato chips.

Aaah! Foot Petals Give The Boot are special designed wool-overlay cushions for your boots. You simply trim them to fit and insert in your boot for added warmth and comfortable wear. I just invested in new winter boots (thank you, Land's End, for the lovely sale, and boo, New England, for the soggy winters) so I am thankful for a product to make them even warmer!

Last but not least, I was sent two samples of Yogi Tea blends, both with Energy focused ingredients...probably to help with the upcoming holiday stress! Ha! I forget how much I like hot tea until the colder temps hit! I love the Yogi tea brand already so I am looking forward to trying these new flavors.

In sum, this was a cool collection of products designed to keep you warm and moisturized this winter, LOL. Though they seemed sort of random, the theme of products does tell a story and flows together. Thank you, Influenster!

Literary Lacquers Community Collection 2015: Nail Art!

Earlier this week, I showed you plain photos of the brand new 8 piece (plus 1 GWP LE) Community Collection for 2015 by Literary Lacquers. Today I have a few random nail art designs using polishes from that collection. My previous post was long enough and photo heavy enough that I decided to make a separate post. I know you won't mind seeing these beauties again!

Here is a group shot of the 8 new polishes:

There is no rhyme or reason to which polishes I added designs was really just me digging through my nail art box o'stuff and looking at a specific polish and thinking they would look nice together!

The first thing I wanted to do was create a design with all the new polishes together. I used a white base and a pinwheel stencil for this look. I wish the stencil had less white space and allowed the colors to get closer to one another...but you get the point, right?

The accent nail is Give My Heart, the LE GWP that you can get when you spend a specific amount at the shop.

Stinky Little Truck, a foil-y silver, deserved thick floral vines. I used bornprettystore nail stickers for this look.

I made Free To Fly girlier with holo star decals:

It looks awesome in the shade, too:

Burning Slowly From The Inside Out also got the floral treatment:

Last but not least, Veronika received some girly daisy decals, too.

Hope you enjoyed seeing these as much as I enjoyed making them!
