Mentality Polish: Bliss (Must See!)

Mentality Polish seems to be one indie brand that is on everyone's radar - and it is easy to see why!  Check out Bliss:

I was sent this as an extra in a swap and I am so happy to have it! This polish is so unique. I turned to the website for description and it is described as "sparkling blue holographic polish with purple and turquoise accents." It has holo and glass flecks and it just breathtaking!

It is a really complex storm blue but chock full of holo and sparkle. Application was a dream, perfect in two coats.

Blurred out shot so you can see the holo:

And last look!

Though I am not usually a blue fan, this is just a super cool polish. It is still in the store, too, so hop on over if you're interested.

Pictorial: Pastel Galaxy Manicure

I am trying to bring you more nail art and more tutorials - I hope you're enjoying them!  Today I have a galaxy manicure with a twist. I used all pastel colors for this look.

Warning: picture heavy!

Here is the finished product:

And here's how we get there!  First, choose a grey milky creme base. I used Release by China Glaze from The Giver collection.

Next, Zoya Leslie.  I sponged everything on with a bit of a cosmetic sponge. I ripped up the sponge and used tweezers, dabbing the piece into polish on tinfoil:

Next, China Glaze Friends Forever, Right?

Zoya Rayne is next:

Zoya Lillian:

B Squared Lacquer B Mine:

China Glaze Fairy Dust is a must for any galaxy mani:

Fresh Paint Sugar Rush flakkies added some spacey depth:

I used a striping brush and white polish to add the 'stars' at the end.  Then, I topped it all off with HK Girl:

I loved this look so much that I kept it for a few days. Once I wanted a new look I added Matte-ict by A Girl Obsessed. How awesome do the flakkies look with matte?!

I hope you love this! If you try this look, tag me on IG or post it on my FB page!

China Glaze: Desert Escape - Summer 2015

Are you ready to rain dance the night away?

Available as of June 1, this 6 piece collection is called Desert Escape.  I was sent this collection for review. Group shot:

20150611_212116

I posted this when I published the press release, but just to refresh your memory, the China Glaze Desert Escape collection also features two nail art kits:
Fringe with Benefits: Includes three lacquers and a set of temporary tattoos
Art You Looking Tribal: Includes three lacquers and a black Stripe Rite nail art liner
Also available: China Glaze Tribal Council, a set of six micro mini bottles of the lacquer collection.

The complete China Glaze Desert Escape collection including the nail art kits and micro minis will be available at a new online retailer for the brand, LockAndMane.com.

Ready for pics?

First up, this metallic rose gold polish is called Meet Me In The Mirage. Looking at the bottle, I was fearing a brush strokey finish, which I dislike, but it actually wasn't at all! Joy! As you can see, it does have a cool metallic looking finish, turning gold in some lights and copper in others. This is three thin coats with topcoat.

Next, this fuchsia metallic is called Don't Desert Me. It applied quite streaky but dried not-so-streaky, which was nice to see, though def not a 100% smooth finish. This is two coats with topcoat.

20150611_214919

20150611_214909

On to the cremes! I was pleasantly surprised by a few of the formulas.  I love a good neutral creme.  What's She Dune? is opaque in just two coats. I am positive that the bone meets almond shade will be flattering on many skin tones, including mine, LOL.

20150611_220504

20150611_220444

This lovely sky blue is Rain Dance The Night Away. I think the sky blue from The Giver collection could be a dupe but I'll get back to you on that. The formula was better than usual for a pastel. This is two coats and topcoat.

20150611_221756

20150611_221708

Don't Mesa With My Heart is a bubblegum pink creme. Another color with potential for streakiness, the formula was also better than you may expect. Two coats with topcoat resulted in cheerful bubblegum perfection.

20150611_222934

20150611_222853

Last but not least, this red is The Heat Is On. Almost a true red, this has just the tiniest lean of orange which gives it a desert vibe. Two coats is all you need!

20150611_223617

20150611_223544

There you have it!  What's She Dune? is my favorite given both the formula and color.

Remember, this collection is not as easy to find as other China Glaze collection. Your best place to find the whole set is LockAndMane.com.

Thank you for stopping by!

Cheater Gradient Pictorial! Easy Method!

I love the look of a blended gradient!  I've read tutorials and watched quicky Instagram videos where the artist just makes it look so easy to achieve the perfectly blended look.  It's not that easy!!  I find it tricky to get a really blended look, especially with colors that are not in the same color family.

Over Valentine's Day I decided that I wanted a gradient look using red, white, and pink.  Prior to this attempt, I had never tried a three color gradient, but I decided to give it a go and take pics of my method to show you!

As I've mentioned before, I prefer the 'pictorial' over the video so you can do your nails step by step as I show you mine.  Ready?

I used base and then started with red.  I used China Glaze Tip My Hat here and painted just the bottom third - up to a half in some places, but it'll get fixed, you'll see - of the nail.

20150208_114844

Next, I used China Glaze Something Sweet for the bottom third of the nail. Overlapping is clearly OK!

20150208_115506

For the third color, I used China Glaze Dance Baby.  I swiped it right across the middle of the nail.  It was then that I realized I went overboard with the red, but again, no worries! We will fix it.

20150208_120030

Using a cosmetic sponge, I dabbed on red and pink and started to blend it.  I have seen people much more talented than I blend with all 3 colors, but who says that is the only way it should be done?

20150208_121422

I did the same thing using the two lighter colors.

20150208_123701

Where needed, I went back and dabbed more. I blended each nail until I liked the look.  Don't get discouraged if it looks a little splotchy and spotty. Your clear coat will fix that.

20150208_124029

Since it was Valentine's Day, I used a glitter topper that I made myself! This mix has a clear base and is filled with red hearts, diamonds, and small hex.

20150208_130142

Close up!  I do recommend the glitter topcoat because it distracts the eye from any mistakes you may have made!

20150208_130149

Since I like to MATTE ALL THE THINGS whenever possible, I added Matte-ict by A Girl Obsessed.

20150209_091700

Last pic!

20150209_091737

And there you have it! I hope this has helped you a little bit and if it did, please show me a pic!

Sinful Colors Round Up Post: 8 Polishes - Beige of Honor, Cinderella, Dream On, Enchanted, Starfish, Teal The End, Thimbleberry, Vacation Time

Today I have a different type of post for you than usual.  As I was scrolling through the (literally) hundreds of swatched polishes I need to post, I decided that a couple bulk "round up" posts may help me get through the material.

Indie polishes will have their own featured posts, but I figured for mainstream, easy to find, inexpensive, accessible to everyone polishes, like Sinful Colors, that maybe a bulk post would be OK.

Do you like this idea? Do you hate it? Let me know in the comments or on Facebook!

I have 8 Sinful Colors polishes in this post, so I'll only post a couple pics of each.  In general, Sinful makes cremes and glitter toppers. All of these are cremes and are opaque in 2 coats.

Let's get started!  Pics are in alphabetical order, not preference or anything like that.  I'm too OCD to organize them any other way but alphabetical!  (Although, my OCD and too-honest-for-my-own-good-self would like to tell you that I've switched up hand poses in the past year so some of the pic poses are inconsistent. UGH! I'm sorry!)

Polish 1: Beige of Honor

20140626_135248     20140626_135258

Polish 2: Cinderella.  If you MUST have a polish on this list, Cinderella is it.

20140922_211946     20140922_211927

Polish 3: Dream On

20140831_125123     20140831_125133

Polish 4: Enchanted

20140706_213539     20140706_213519

Polish 5: Starfish

20140601_223254     20140601_223321

Polish 6: Teal The End

20140820_193448     20140820_193459

Polish 7: Thimbleberry.  This is another favorite of mine!

20140820_221430     20140820_221424

Polish 8: Vacation Time

20141207_223310     20141207_223321

In general, Sinful is known for consistent creme formulas and the polishes above are no exception. They retail for $2 but if you wait for a 99c sale, they are really worth the purchase, especially as bases for nail art or glitter toppers.

Please let me know if you want to see more posts like this! With the amount of polish pictures I have saved, I could easily do one a month or even bi-weekly.

As always, thank you for stopping by!

xoxo,
Lacey
