Pink Month! Indie Week! LynBDesigns: Cheshire Grin

Hello and welcome to the last day of February, the last day of Pink Month, and the last day of indie week.  Honestly, I could extend pink month for another month, at least, LOL, but I won't do that to you.

We are ending the month and week with a stunning indie from LynBDesigns.  Say hello to Cheshire Grin!

LynBDesigns is a wicked cool indie line. She seems to base a lot of polishes on fandom themes, like Alice in Wonderland, for example. As I have mentioned before, I try not to buy polishes from the references only, but this AiW collection was an exception. I adore the Alice in Wonderland story and movie, too.

20140614_205624     20140614_205635

The awesome thing about a LynBDesigns collection is that most seem to be 10-12 or more polishes big, which means you're going to find something you love in pretty much every collection she makes!  Cheshire Grin was a Must.Have. for me, and I am really psyched to have it in my collection.

This is three thin coats with topcoat.  You can still find this in her store! It has a light holo to it and is such a sweet color.  No issues with formula or dry time. I do three coats with lighter colors like this out of habit, but you might be OK with two. Out of focus macro shot!

Pink Month! Indie Week! Glittering Elements: Cheerful Butterfly (Custom!)

Pink Month continues and Indie Week is in full effect.  Today I have a gorgeous, gorgeous, GORGEOUS polish by AU indie company, Glittering Elements.  Cheerful Butterfly was made for me by my AU nail mail pal, LeeAnne,

Let's just take a look, shall we?

20140930_212601     20140930_212616

Ooooh, aaaahhh! Does LeeAnne know me well OR WHAT! (Spoiler: she knows me well, I love this!)

This is two coats with topcoat.  I had zero issues with this, even dry time was pretty quick!  I love the depth of this polish, take a closer look, see the lighter and darker glitters?

It's just sooo pretty!

Glittering Elements is an AU indie, so you'll have to search blog sales in the US or spring for international shipping.  I would def recommend it if you're looking to branch out, this is gorgeous!

Pink Month! Indie Week! Hare Polish: Washed Ahore

Hare Polish has been around for a while but really only got on my radar in 2014.  It seems as if many of Hare's mixes are dark jelly or crelly combos, which aren't my favorite.  However, there are a few of the most delicate, girly, pretty mixes by Hare that I simply HAD.TO.HAVE.

Case in point:

This is Washed Ashore, the daintiest pink base with pretty pastel glitters.  Hare Polishes tend to be glitter bombs to the fullest, and this is no exception.  I actually used a base for this - I believe it was W&W Ticked Pink, which I showed you earlier this month - and 2 coats of Washed Ashore.

Hare has the crelly/glitter formula down perfectly. You never have to fish or fuss for glitters.  Because the mixes are so glitter heavy, they can be a bit thick but easy to use, never an issue.

Couple more!

I believe Washed Ashore is in the Core Line for the store because I have seen it during a few restocks and I know it was introduced at least a year+ ago.  I def. recommend trying this brand or at least stopping by the store - with the colors and glitter mixes, there is something for everyone!

Born Pretty Store: Flowers, Butterflies, & Maps...and Site Exclusive Coupon Code!

First things first, coupon code!

I have a couple more items from Born Pretty Store that I received for review.  If you haven't been to lately, you must head over.  You will find nail decals, studs, faux eyelashes, phone cases, fashion jewelry - and free shipping all the time!!

The items I received are butterfly water decals and flower water decals:

AND, check this out, I also received some map/road map water decals. They are HUGE pieces! Check them out compared to my hand:

20150215_144248     20150215_144257

The flower and butterfly decals are awesome and easy to use. Paint your nails, let it dry. Cut your decals to size. Plunge the decal into water (I used cold water and it worked fine even though the package says to use warm) and wait for about 10 seconds. Slide the decal off the backing and place on your nail. Allow it to dry and then apply clear polish to protect it.

With the butterfly decal, I used China Glaze Dashboard Dreamer and I dabbed on clouds using Salon Perfect Sugar Cube:

You can find the exact butterflies I used HERE!

20150215_150147     20150215_150151

For the flower decals, I used A Girl Obsessed He Loves Me:

You can find the exact flowers I used HERE!

20150215_152737     20150215_152748

Now, let's talk about the maps. I love maps and globes! I even have the world map tattooed on my back. I JUMPED at the chance to sample these decals!! I was shocked when I saw how big they were. How on earth do you use these? I thought maybe they were like a Jamberry or a sticker? Meant for the whole nail?

So, for these, I painted my nail with clear basecoat. I used just one square for four nails and just it into four equal sized pieces.

Starting with my pinky, I attempted to trim the bottom into a curved, nail-friendly shape. Then, like the directions stated, I put the piece in water, waited a few seconds, and separated it from the backing.

I stuck it to my nail and....nothing. It wasn't very bendable and was still very thick. I ended up taking more base and putting another layer and squishing the design to my nail, then attempting to work from the bottom to the tip to hope it stuck to the nail. It really didn't. There are wrinkles, there are bubbles, there is gaping at the top of the nail.

You can find these maps HERE!

Take a look:

I got through 3 nails and quit, as you can see above. I'll have to try another day and maybe I will do better next time. In general, though, I do like the products I have received from bornprettystore and given the low prices, huge selection, and free shipping, I do suggest you check out the site!

Just to sweeten the deal, one more time, here is the coupon code for 10% off the already low prices:

Pink Month! Indie Week! Model City Polish: Venetian Sunset

I realize that Pink Month has been a little heavy on the mainstreams, so let's add a gorgeous indie in the fact, let's make a week of it, starting today.

This is Venetian Sunset by Model City Polish:

I snagged this beauty when lovely and talented MCP creator Nina had an awesome sale.  Unfortunately, VS has been retired for now.  I am SO glad I snagged this polish!

20150113_211753     20150113_211826

This is three thin coats with topcoat.  Two would've been fine but I dig the depth that a third coat provides.  This is a creamy pink with pinker flakkies.  Beautiful application, decent dry time. Gorgeous polish!

Pink Month! Sephora Formula X: Exclamation

As I narrow down my choices for Pink Month, it's pretty obvious that I could go for another entire month.  Perhaps one of my 2015 resolutions (is it too late for resolution making?) should be to try more polishes that aren't pink?

Naaaaaaaah!  LOL.  I do what I want!

Today I have a Sephora Formula X polish called Exclamation.  This is a medium toned DREAM of a polish.

20140614_202705     20140614_202632

My swatches show two coats but it could've stood alone with just one!  I was incredibly impressed with the application and opacity!

One more shot!

You can find Sephora X polishes might want to sit down, this may come as a shocker....Sephora! You can also find a good deal when you see one at a TJ Maxx or Marshalls, too.

Salon Perfect - Perfect Brow Pomade! New Eye Brow Product Alert!

I am SO excited to show you this product!  Big, bold brows are all the rage...and have been for a while - thank you Cara Delevingne!

My eyebrows have been in a sad, too thin, over plucked state for years and years.  Only recently have I started to realize that they really needed a makeover.  I have been purchasing different products, from:
pencils (which are OK), to
eyeshadow and an angled brush (Bobbi Brown brushes rock!) to
the culty trendy Maybelline Studio Eyebrow Drama (which doesn't work at all, thank you for the false hopes, advertising world).

To my surprise (very excited, opened the box and squealed with the happy type of surprise), Salon Perfect sent me a box that contained their brand new Perfect Brow Pomade and a 2 in one eyebrow powder.  This was sent for my review!  Let's take a look!

First, I did receive a press release type letter about the new product:

I also received a personalized note from Salon Perfect! Love the personal touches!

They didn't know which color I'd be, so they sent 3 colors: Blond, Medium Brown, Dark Brown:

And they sent me the Perfect Brow Powder & Stencil combo:

I reached for the Medium Brown shade first because I have dark brown hair and dark eyes.  My eyebrows, however, are very sparse so I figured the darkest color would be too dark but the medium should be perfect.

The product comes with a brush that has an angle on one side and a spooly on the other:

The pot of gel has a soft touch, is blendable, and richly pigmented.  With the angled brush, depending on how you hold it, you can make a thick or thin line, like so:

20150209_083519     20150209_083510

I tried it late last week and this is what I got!

salon perfect brow pomade

Much, much stronger brow, with shape and looks pretty natural!

However, I thought it looked a little too can tell I played with the focus and color of the pic, too, so I decided to take more pics. I also wanted to see what the Blond shade would look like. I've been reading more beauty articles lately, especially about brows, and they say to go a shade lighter when filling them in.

Hmmmmm, I thought, maybe the blond will look even more natural?

Once I dabbed out a bit of product, I decided it is more of a toffee shade rather than a truly blond color. Here is an embarassing picture of me with one brow done and one natural. I don't need to tell you which is which, do I?

Come on now, go easy. I was a teen in the 90's when over-plucking was all the rage. Unfortunately for me, mine have decided to boycott re-growth. Sigh.

Anyway, with the Perfect Brow Pomade, I get this!

I love it!! I grabbed the blond shade again on Valentine's Day when the boyfriend and I went out to dinner (at my fave restaurant, good job Donnie!):

salon perfect brow pomade2

In conclusion, I will never have Cara brows.

I dislike the totally faux drawn on look.

I do, however, appreciate and really love the filled in, strong but natural, shaped and defined look that I get with the Salon Perfect Perfect Brow Pomade!

If you're looking for an inexpensive new product to try for your brows, I strongly suggest the Salon Perfect brand!! You can find Salon Perfect at Walmart.

March 2019: Empties & Tossed Report

I am continuing to try to use up products that have been laying around, including perfumes. So far, so good. Let me show you what I used in ...
