Illamasqua Radium: Hello, Yellow!

I am STILL catching up on old pics. Apparently, I paint my nails way more often than I blog! I actually don't even own this polish anymore, I have since sold it, but let's take a look anyway, because Illamasqua is a great brand and they make a great polish!!

This is a highliter-tastic green/yellow polish with a slight shimmer. The swatch shows 2 coats, which is all you need for full coverage, even with this odd color.

I love Illamasqua's formulas, I am a huge fan! I sold this only because the color is so far out that I knew I would not pick it up too often. It deserves better!!

Last look, without flash:

What do you think of this polish? Would you have kept it or sold it!?!?

3 Yellow Polishes: Julep Abbie, e.l.f. Sunflower, & Frankenfrosting Neon Smoothie

Summer time calls for bright YELLOW polish, right?!

Before we have to tuck away the brights in favor of dark metallics (who am I kidding? I'll rock neon pink year round and until I am 95 years old!), it is time to show you some happy yellow polishes!

Today I have three bright beauties for you: Julep Abbie, elf Sunflower, and Frankenfrosting Neon Smoothie.  Two mainstreams, one slightly overpriced (ahem, Julep) and one inexpensive polish, plus a fabulous indie - something for everyone!

Let me show you Julep Abbie first.  This swatch comes with a BIG RED WARNING attached.  Julep Abbie stained the *%(#%%(#& out of my nails.  I had a coat of OPI Nail Envy, 2 coats of ridge filler, then two coats of Abbie, and wow.  Ugly, stained, nasty.

First, here is the mani itself.  This is two coats of Abbie plus China Glaze It's A Trap-eze as accents:

You might be thinking that it's pretty.

You might have popped over to the Julep website.

Unless you have yellow stopper - which I'd suggest using 16 coats of, minimum - just don't.

However, let my tortured nails be a lesson for you. I had heard from my nail guru/nail tech/brilliant friend Sam that denture cleaner was the way to go. You need to buff your nails first, then soak in denture cleaner, and this happens, thank goodness:

Still intense. I don't plan on touching Abbie EVER again, so if you're in the US and you like it, let me know. You can have mine! Next up is a non-staining yellow called Sunflower, by e.l.f. I got this in a beach themed set of 4 polishes for under $6 at TJ Maxx a few weeks ago.

Sunflower has a slightly metallic finish, which unfortunately means brush strokes do show. This is 2 coats of Sunflower with no topcoat. Sunflower looks totally different in the sunlight! Take a look:

Last, but not least, here is Neon Smoothie, by Frankenfrosting. Neon Smoothie has a yellow base with neon green, pink, and yellow glitters. Here is two coats of Neon Smoothie over Zoya Pippa, another bright yellow.

Are you a yellow polish fan? Which is your favorite?

Textured Polish!! NOPI Gumdrop Review!

I love, love, love texture polish.

My pal Sam gifted me with a new texture to me from Nicole by OPI, usually shortened to nOPI or NOPI. This is called Candy is Dandy:

Is it any surprise that I love this?! The sparkle puts Zoya to shame, and the texture is fairly gritty. This is two coats. Drying time was great, as it is for most texture polish. There is no topcoat here!

Close up to see the texture and sparkle!

Last look!

I am a huge fan! I went hunting for more of these polishes...and I must say, I am disappointed with the other colors available. This color, however, is gorgeous, and I know I'll use it again. I hope that NOPI continues this line and comes out with new colors.

Thanks for stopping by!

Zoya Fall 2013 Cashmere Collection!

On the one hand - and you may already be well aware - dark colors are not my favorites.

On the other hand, I do love a perfect creme polish, and Zoya does that every I remain slightly on the fence about a couple of the colors, the formulas are really flawless.

Shall we take a peek?

Livingston doesn't fall into the dark category at all. It's a pretty bright, almost cherry, red polish that applied flawlessly in two coats. All of the swatches are two coats with HK Girl topcoat. I own a literal handful of red polishes, so to me, this was a welcome addition. I wonder if it is an easily dupeable shade for red fans?

Pepper is a dark, almost maroon, red. This is a shade I am on the fence about, but it is unique in my collection as well. It was designed for Peter Som.

Next up is a dark, but very pretty, blue called Sailor. It coordinated really well with Sunshine, a Fall 2013 Pixie polish.

Hunter, the not so originally named green of the bunch, is described as "a dark sea green cream" according to the website, and it matched well with Chita.

Zoya also included two neutrals, and I, for one, am ALL ABOUT NEUTRALS right now. I was excited for Louise because I need a base for Cirque Espresso and was on the search for a teddy bear chocolate brown. Louise has ended my search!

Closer up:

And lastly, my favorite of the bunch, a smoky taupe called Flynn. I think I'll get the most use out of this one:

It is a good mix of shades for Fall and a few uniques for my collection! I am so delighted to have had the chance to review for Zoya and look forward to more! Find them on

Zoya Fall 2013: Satins and Cashmeres! Part 1: The Satin Collection

I am excited to share this post with you!  Zoya sent me both the Fall 2013 Satin and Cashmere collections to show you - and they do not disappoint!

First, let me show you the Satin collection, which is a mix of 5 metallicy polishes and a gold topper. We will see the cremes tomorrow for a full on Zya weekend.

Zoya Mason is a "exciting red violet or "Fandango Pink" metallic" according to the website. This is two coats with HK Girl as topcoat.

This is clearly my fave of the Satins. I love that the finish is quite smooth and well, satiny, as opposed to a streaky metallic look. I despise streaky finished polishes!

Giovanna was originally made for fashion designer Zang Toli and is the perfect It Color of emerald, thanks to (OMG I LOVE HER!) Kate Middleton and her uber, royal fashionableness. Is that even a word?! According to this spell check, no. But it should be, don't you think?

Close up, slightly blurry On Purpose to show the depth of this color:

Neve was also created for Toi and is a pretty sapphire blue. This is two coats, flawless, and it just glows under the flash:

The close up shows the purple/blue flecks that reflect so well!

Next up is Channing, a stunning reddish copper. Named after Channing Tatum because he is scorching? Probably, right?

Channing is the perfect Thanksgiving color, I am really loving the rust colors coming out for this fall. This is two coats, HK Girl topcoat, and flowed really well across the nail.

The last solid color Satin polish is Claudine:

I feel like this is the brush strokiest of them all. The gray color is described as "a striking dark meteorite gray metallic" on the website, and that is pretty accurate:

Lastly, they included a gold topper:

Maria-Louisa is a packed gold topper, but because it is SO packed with glitter, the base is slightly thick. My swatches show just one coat of ML over the various bases. You definitely only need one coat:

You can find Zoya polishes on their site HERE for more info. Prices run $8-9 and they do have some good promos, especially around the back to school time.
