Pretty Yet Professional Nails: Nars Trouville & Essie Set In Stone

I recently had a meeting at work and wanted to tone my usually obnoxious nails.  I still wanted to keep it girly and pretty, so I chose Nars Trouville, a ballerina meets salmon light pink.  It is a pretty unique color, I think.  It's light pink but there's a light hint of orange or peach or something!

When I went to the meeting, I left the Trouville bare, but once I was out of the danger zone, sparkle was necessary!!  I added two coats of Essie Luxe Set in Stone and viola - simple, sparkly, girly, pink, and fun.  I love the result.  What do you think?

Nars Polishes are available at Sephora and various stores.  Essie is available at CVS, other drug stores, and Ulta, I think....

Mao Helps With My Manicure...

LOL! This is semi-polish related, but I had to share.  This is my heathen, blood seeking, adorable Siamese cat, Mao, helping with my mani.

Her main duties are clearing the table by batting every single thing off the table that isn't too heavy for her to move.

"Give Me The Acetone, Ass" AKA: When My Boyfriend Did My Nails...

Over the weekend, Jerroed and I went out to dinner and when we got back, I decided to do my nails.  I asked him, as usual, to pick a color and for some reason (the drinks at dinner), he said he was going to pick the accent nail colors and do it himself.

Yep, you read that right - pick the accent nail colorS (more than one...should've put the breaks on here) and do it himself.  And I agreed to this.  I blame the drinks at dinner, too.

Sooo, he first picked Muddy Buddies by Naild'It Unique Polish and also Peacock by KB Shimmer, and proceeded to sploog both all over my middle fingers on each hand...which resulted with the now infamous (in our household) quote:

"Give me the acetone, ass"

Since he made the mess, he wanted to (attempt to) clean it up, too.  How nice.

Ahem.  Anyway, so the middle fingers are done and he decides to pick out the other two colors (yup, one for each hand), that will coordinate with the opposing accent nail.

This was science, yall.  Serious science.

Here are the results, LOL:

Left hand: China Glaze Hang Ten Toes and Naild'It Unique Polish Muddy Buddies
Right hand: Sinful Colors Nirvana and KB Shimmer Proud Peacock
The whole effect, and Kenzo helping me model
Do you ever let your significant other help with your polish pics?

Maybe I shouldnt....

Perfekt Lash Perfection Gel...Or Is It?

I received a sample of Perfekt Lash Perfection Gel with a recent Sephora order.  I was pretty excited to try it after I read the description on the site: "A silky smooth color gel that “per-fekts” and enhances the appearance of the lashes offering an easy alternative to traditional mascara, lash primer, lash treatment, conditioner, and enhancer."  I have pretty long, thick lashes as it is, and I never use anything except for mascara.  If this product was really an all-in-one, I was hoping it would make my lashes just POP!

Aaaand, pop they did not.

Here, let me show you my natural lashes.  In fact, this is my whole side-o-face sans makeup.  I am just getting into the blogging game, so please be kind!

The sample itself was...well...interesting.  I've never seen a sample like this.  Take a look for yourself.  The brush goes into the mascara part and there is no guard or rim in the mascara part.  It's just open product and it's just odd to use.
See what I mean?  The brush was normal but the mascara holding tube part was
Two or so coats of Perfekt Lash Gel

See?  Nothing too special.  It is nice and lightweight, I do like the feel of the gel.  I am not impressed with much else!  For a product that is supposed to combine a primer, enhancer, mascara, etc, I am not jumping for joy and neither are my lashes.  Maybe it is one of those products that gets better with continued use, but I will probably not be purchasing a full size product.

Have you tried Perfect Lash Perfection Gel?  If you're interested, it's available at Sephora.

Thanks for stopping by!

End of Summer Neon: Splish Splash by China Glaze

Public Service Announcement: My boyfriend does NOT hate this polish!  In fact, he "likes" this color blue...although I really don't, LOL.

I was rooting around in my stash and pulled out about 5 un-trieds and lined them up on the table.  Jerroed picked up the blue and said "Use this one."

AND THEN THE WORLD STOPPED ROTATING, for just a moment.  Did you feel that?! Yes, it happened.  My boyfriend PICKED a polish!

The one he chose was China Glaze Splish Splash, a summer 2012 neon.  It is opaque in two coats and is easy to work with, like all of CG's colors.  It dries slightly matte, as neons tend to do, but gets nice and glossy with a swipe of top coat.

What do you think of this color? Did you pick up any CG neons?

Butter London: Bluey Review & Coterie Haul!

Have you signed up for Coterie yet?  It is another shopping site, like or, but it groups items together to give you a really good deal!

If you need an invite, Click Here to get started and (last I knew), zoereport would get you an additional discount on your first purchase!

The first deal I heard about was for butter LONDON - 3 colors and a matte topcoat for $36.  At $14 an up retail, that comes to $56, so that already made this a good deal.  With the 'zoereport' code, I was able to get $25 off and another code worked for free shipping, bringing this butter LONDON down to $prettymuchirresibistble.

The "catch" if you can even call it that, was that there were only 6 or so colors to choose from.  One of the 6 was the only BL I already own, All Hail The Queen, which I snagged from a blog sale.  I chose the ones below - Knackered, West End Wonderland, Bluey, and the matte top coat.  Later re-stocks of the deal offered a regular topcoat, but I am glad to get a matte. I am halfway through my NYC Matte so I needed a replacement anyway.
Knackered, West End Wonderland, Bluey, Matte
To be honest, I thought I would like Bluey the least and would immediately toss it on my blog sale. Turns out, it is my favvvorite one!  After seeing a few people's swatches, I knew I would love it and was eager to try it.

Two flawless coats later, a coat of Seche Vite, and the beautiful results are below!

This blue is stunning. It's got an amazing depth, sheer sparkles throughout, and is just beautiful.  At the price point, I wont amass a huge BL collection, but I am psyched to grab one (or three) when an amazing deal comes along!

Do you like Butter LONDON? Which do you have in your collection?

Shelby Nails!!! Decals by NailArtlicious

It has been an exciting week of nail mail!  First, I received a custom color named after My Boyfriend Hates Makeup - check it out!!

Second, I received custom decals!!!!  These decals are of my favorite four legged creature in the world, my Shiba Inu Shelby!  These came from Teena at Nail Artlicious, so if you check her out, tell her Lacey Sent You!!

I sent a picture of Shelby to Teena, and a couple others for her to choose from, and she surprised me with decals of three photos!

Check it out!!

I love it!
Of course, the non-decaled nails are Zoya Shelby!  It was meant to be.  I think I've ended every sentence in this post with an exclamation point because I love these decals so much.  They are water transferable and super easy to use.  I cut the image to the size of my nail, soak in water for 15 seconds, slide off the white backing and lay the image down.  I need to get better at smoothing them down but that'll happen with practice.  I plan to purchase quite a few more designs from Teena, they came fast, were inexpensive, and are personal and unique!

A few more shots!

All 3 designs
Thank my cat for those scratches...
So sweet!
Thanks again to Teena.  Check her out on Facebook at Nail Artlicious!!

Who / what would you wear on your nails? Babies? Pets?

NY Color Peach Sparkle & Rainbow Honey A Little Kindness

Are you tired of seeing Rainbow Honey's A Little Kindness on my blog yet?  Hope not because I adore this polish and it goes so well with so many base this!

As I've also mentioned, I do not have access to NYC Color line...and I love it.  There is a lame shelf in a not very local Wal-mart that has older polishes, but never the newer collections.  Thanks to my fabulous friends in polish groups and wonderful readers, I've been able to score both the full set of the summer 2012 City Sweets collection and the two limited edition City Sparkles, Peach Sparkle and Golden Glam.  Both are gorgeous and Nouveau Cheap and other bloggers describe them as well performing and pigmeted as Zoya polishes.  At only $1.99 or so each, I'd say that is a pretty flattering comparison to the $8 or so Zoya shades!

Onto the photos! Below you'll see two coats of Peach Sparkle and a coat of Seche Vite.  I started with a single accent nail of Rainbow Honey's A Little Kindness BECAUSE I LOVE IT, and this is what I got:

It was too pretty not to keep going, so I added a single layer of ALK to the rest of my nails.  I am starting to notice that the larger glitters in ALK are starting to taco a bit...

I adore how well ALK matches with so many colors!  I love this combo, it reminds me of Spring time!

What do you think?

Mini Black And White Glitter Comparison: Sonnetarium Vs. Lynnderella

If you're active in nail polish social media, you know about the drama with Lynderella, eBay, and Llarowe.  I'm not going to get into it here!  Suffice to say, I do not plan to buy Lynns in the future.  I sold all of mine except for two because a) I love them, and b) they are fairly used anyway.

One of those two is Connect the Dots.  I purchased it at $15 per bottle (a WHILE ago!!), which was steep but justifiable for what I thought was super unique.  I found Chalkboard Nails super, mega, ultra black and white glitter comparison post in the hopes of finding a dupe.

After searching through all 28 sparkling options on the post, I chose Sonnetarium's Samurai Princess.  The bottles come in a 9ml container at $6 each and it was definitively worth a shot to try it.  I also picked up Never Glow Up, which I showed you before.

The pink is China Glaze Pink Plumeria with Samurai Princess, the lilac is NYC Lavender Cupcake with Connect the Dots.

Pretty spot on, huh?!?
Pink Plumeria with SP, Lilac Cupcake with CtD

Bottle shots!
I'd say this is a dead ringer for CtD and I plan to re-purchase Samurai Princess! The ONLY difference is there is not a fine shimmer running through SP, but the difference is so negligible.

Check out Sonnetarium on etsy!  The winner of this comparison post is def Sonnetarium! FTW!

Cosette's Cosmetics: Queen of Hearts - From the Alice in Wonderland Collection

Alice in Wonderland is probably one of my favorite stories/movies/whatever they make, I'll check it out.  Cosette's Cosmetics is a vegan indie cosmetics store on etsy, and the owner, Jennifer, is a friend of mine.  When she came out with an Alice in Wonderland inspired collection, I knew I had to try one out!

PS: She also makes an amazing finishing powder.  When it comes back in the shop, I am going to stock up because I am almost out.  It is a pared down, easier on the skin formula and less drying than any other finishing powder I've tried. And in my quest to look matte, porcelain, and perfect, I've tried a TON of finishing powders.  Support small business, bitches!! :)

This is Queen of Hearts, a deep burgundy shimmer.  It is a shadow but also lip safe! How cool is that?  I can imagine using this as a lip color over the holidays, it would be perfect with a black dress and simple eyes for a Christmas party or something.  I need to get you lip pics soon, it looks great!

For now, check it out on my eyes:

With Flash

 The site describes it as:
"Bold and burgundy with flecks of gold, Queen Of Hearts is stunning on the lids or lips! The best part is that it is completely vegan! Red hues are almost never vegan, so this is a special treat for those ladies vying for a dramatic shade. "

I totally agree.  It is bold, striking, and a super intense shade!  I love it because I own nothing like it and because of the name.

Check out Cosette's Cosmetics HERE and tell them Lacey sent you!

In one of my polish groups, I was lucky enough to meet a fabulous woman who agreed to make me the custom polish of my dreams!

I knew that the name of the polish would be the name of the blog, My Boyfriend Hates Makeup by Monster Polish.  The polish has me thinking of a whole line of My Boyfriend Hates Makeup products, so stay tuned for more!

I am just going to say it now, this is my FAVORITE POLISH EVER.  I never want to take it off!!  I am also going to beg the fabulous creator for another bottle (or 18) so that I!!!  This is serious!

Without further introduction, I present: My Boyfriend Hates Makeup...the polish!!

I love it!!!!!!!  I asked for: light pink base, fine pink and glitter throughout, small glitters in pink, and no bars, hexes, or other odd shapes.  IS THIS PERFECT OR WHAT!!?!  I love this polish, thank you Diana!!

For more info, check out the Polish Monster Blog and Facebook page!

What do you think of the Official polish of My Boyfriend Hates Makeup??

Never Glow Up! Glow in the dark polish by Sonnetarium!

I am a huge fan of supporting small businesses and when I saw this polish by Sonnetarium, I knew I wanted it in my cart!  I originally found Sonnetarium on a post by Chalkboard Nails that compared black and white glitters.

Chalkboard Nails calls this the ULTIMATE Black and White Glitter Comparison Post, and they are not exaggerating at all.  There are 28 black and white glitters in the post - 28!!!  Siiiick!!  You can see the ULTIMATE post here:  Chalkboard Nails!

If I am going to pay for shipping, why only buy one polish? The package needs a travel partner, does it not? Never Glow Up first called out to me because it is a pastel blue glittery polish and I own nothing else like it.

This Halloween, this about ordering from a small business instead of picking up a mass produced (and more toxic) product from the store!!!  Check out Sonnetarium on Etsy!  I love everything here and am looking forward to trying more polishes (I just wish the bottles were a little larger!).  Check out Never Glow Up!!

Cute, all by itself!
Close up!
Comparing bottle sizes - UP is 10ml, Never Glow Up is 9ml
The Money shot!!! Love this!
Never Glow Up glows brightly even with a topcoat, which you need because it dries a little gritty.  The glow properties do that, but one coat of Seche takes care of it.

It takes 10 minutes in sunlight to "charge" the polish and it glows for HOURS.  I went to bed with it glowing, woke up and stumbled into the living room to find the lights and noticed they were STILL glowing when I woke up.  Awesome!  If you need a Glow polish for Halloween, or just for a change to your collection, def check out Sonnetarium!

March 2019: Empties & Tossed Report

I am continuing to try to use up products that have been laying around, including perfumes. So far, so good. Let me show you what I used in ...
